how to remove charge pipe bolt

I have it half off, the injen instructions suck. The bolt that holds the hot side charge piping to the engine, has some metal cover over a bolt and rubber. how do I get that off?

Yeah I agree, not the best instructions. I actually just installed my piping about an hour ago too! I also struggled getting that bolt out of the stock engine due to the angle and what not. What I did was took a pair of needle nose pliers and bit by bit ripped apart the rubber piece inbetween the clip and the actual piping bracket. Once i ripped off a good deal of it, the whole piece simply lifted off with a little tug. Since the bolt was still in there I used the pliers again and was able to unscrew it off. I figure even if I were to put the stock one back on that I really don't even need that screw anyways.

This guide is pretty decent too, https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/show...+charge+piping

Good luck! I'm amazed at how much better this car sounds with trifecta tune, dejon intake, and the dejon charge piping. The turbo spools much faster and has a much better power-band than before.

Take a small flat head screwdriver and lift up the little finger in the middle of the clip then take a small pair of needle nose pliers and pull it out.

yes, dont think I had them tight enough, and the supplied injen silicon couplers are not long enough imo. I just ordered new ones.

most folks with the injen cp seem to be having issues with the couplers. This is good to know seeing as how I plan on buying one of these puppies soon. Do you know what size diameter the couples are? Do you need ALL new couplers or only the ones that attach to the turbo and IC?

imo they are all too short, but they can work if you do it just right.

I bought
1 x 2.0" silicon straight coupler
2 x 2.5" silicon straight coupler
2 x 2.0" tbolt clamps
4 x 2.5" tbolt clamps

I still love the injen, its cost effective, most direct route to IC AND I think you could almost change oil with out removing the pipe.

I know hair spry works well to keep couplers in place. This is used often on big trucks and seems to work well when used with good clamps.

my Injen pipes arent causing me any issues. Have T-bolt clamps and Injen couplers that came with it. The couplers are big enough to do the job if you install them correctly. But if your more comfterble with longer ones then do what you gotta do. There great pipes though and i would recommend them to anyone. I remember some vendor complaining that the pipe is too thin or something and to buy there's as its thicker and more durable. Im pretty confident this pipe will handle anything I plan on throwing at it. I dont see me blowing this pipe up.

clear image auto's CP were the best so far. their supplied t-bolt clamps are rigorous as ****. they've withstood the stock tune, 22psi tune, 30psi tune and now my 22psi tune without blowing yet. I keep a 7/16" and 12mm in my car just in case though ..

I retightened it and havent had a issue since, I just dont know how tight to tighten the tbolts.. New couplers are on the way, but they arent needed. I just am **** on stuff and want lots of over lap. I'd buy the injen again hands down, cheaper and takes the shortest route.

yea i hear ya. i felt the same way at first. but i had to take them off and reinstall them after a dealer trip and the 2nd time it went so fast and was so easy I was just like, ok, maybe they work just fine.

yeah, there is a fine line between over-tightening and under-tightening them.

I tighten them til I have to actually tug on the bolt to move it tighter. anymore and it'll snap the clamp.

oh yea the first time took me a while, specially figuring what size bolts and how to get this off etc. 2nd time and on i bet its super quick and easy. part that takes the longest is tightening the clamps :P

ya I dont want to bend the piping...but I did start snugging them tighter and you can feel when the clamp starts being harder to tighten... the longer couplers will help with blow off as well, but it definitely takes a little finesse.

yeah, as soon as the bolt housing on the clamp started indenting the clamp itself (just a little bit) that's when I called it off and stopped tightening.

i havent had any issues with my injen CP, installation went smoothly and the only thing that took long was getting the angles and couplers just right...but so far so good 12000 miles later with a tune.....and looks sexy too lol

yeah, the CIA piping had some issues with clearance ... first it was rubbing against the fuel pump rail then the fuel pump bracket. had to move them up more near the fan shroud
