I sent an e-mail too...

I sent an e-mail to Forced Performance to see if they have any plans or would even be interested in working over the LNF turbo. These guys are known to make stock looking turbos that can flow 10lbs/min of air over stock or possibly more. Commonly found in the Subby and DSM forums. I will post the response e-mail when I get it.

Lets hope for the best!

Now that would be something, fp makes some good ****.
Dejon does sell a turbo kit for the lnf that comes with the FP 68HTA, its basically a 16g stuffed with a 47lbs/min wheel. But a true bolt-on replacement would be ideal.

Are you talking about the Forced Performance FP 68HTA Kit? If so, a guy with an HHR SS has bought the kit and going to put it on in the spring.

I hear ya man, I was interested in the kit also, but I can't justify buying it without some kind of numbers.

That would be sweet. I want to keep my stock turbo and I would be happy if they could make a modded stock turbo that can flow 46 lbs/min vs the stockers max of 36 lbs/min at 24 psi.

I'm about done installing the FP 68HTA on a Sky RL. I'm on the Solstice forum where I will update on impressions if you are interested.

Took the Sky out for a first drive now that the boost control is fixed (didn't have it hooked up correctly). The tune is set conservative right now at a max of 14-15 psi. Feels pretty much like a stock tune. Boost comes on slower than I expected, but that might have to do with how the controller is working (at least I hope so). 14psi is not reached in 3rd gear until almost 4k rpm. I will work with Vince at Trifecta to increase boost ramp up. Dejon's system includes a boost leak/bypass to eliminate compressor surge. There is no surge, but the setup may be affecting boost ramp up. I don't know if the tune can compensate for this much or not.

On the positive side, the car pulls smooth and continues to pull smooth up to about 6,000 rpm, then lessens a bit. I think this is due to the lower boost limit the tune is asking for at this time, and conservative timing. I logged a couple sessions and will send them to Vince to review/modify. Ultimately, I would like to run 25psi on 91 octane (with a little acetone) if possible. This should get me in the neighborhood of 350whp which was my goal on 91 octane.

I have a couple pics of the kit installed I will upload later. btw, I have overheating, dang sealed coolant system. I can visualize the air bubble running through the system as the temp goes up to 208 then back down to 198.

btw, my supporting mods are Hahn IC, K&N panel filter, Solo hiflow cat DP and catback, Forge adj. BOV (recirculated).

DItto, I'd like to keep the stock turbo as well.

This will be intersting. If I do go "big turbo" either Bullseye S252 or GT2871R Turbo.

BTW, you have a PM.

Got a "22 psi" tune from Trifecta and installed it. When I took it for a ride, the boost came on strong but then went into limp mode at about 18 psi. I think I may have hit the 255 kPa limit that has been discussed elsewhere on this and other forums.

My thinking is that on the stock turbo, I was running BSR tune and hitting 19-20 psi and apparently not hitting the 255kpa limit. But with the new turbo, could it be that much more efficient, that I would hit the limit at 17-18 psi?

Try this link. Its supposed to be public. The

I could also be underboosting because the ECM does not like it when desired boost does not match actual for too long. This bigger turbo does not have the dual vane setup like the stock one, and the compressor is larger, so it is spooling up slower and this hesitation may be causing the issue. In order to rate this, spoolup and drivability is between a stock DSM (had a Talon once) and the stock Sky RL. The throttle is softer under 3300 or so rpm, then it picks up nicely. Trifecta is working on the tune to deal with the requested boost to better match the characteristics of the new turbo so I don't go into limp mode. I'll report back later.

So If I understand this correctly, if someone had the GMPP sensors from the GM turbo upgrade then the 255 kPa limit would've been raised with the new sensors and they wouldn't experience this problem that you are experiencing?

Yep that's the major part of the GM upgrade kit.

Upgrade Kit+ new tune should be big time gains.

Sweet, well now I don't feel as bad for getting the GM tune first, since i plan on upgrading the turbo soon.

I believe that Trifecta can control boost, etc. either with the upgraded GM sensors or stock sensors. We'll see. Right now, I am not sure if the wastegate actuator is working properly as I can't get boost up past 18. BTW, the butt dyno feels like it has as much power at the stock turbo at 20psi. I will continue with this process until I get my 25 psi however.
