E-mail sent to Cobalt Marketing Team
Here is a copy of the e-mail that I sent to the Cobalt Marketing Team. I'll post any replies that I receive, if I receive any at all.
Cobalt Marketing Team,
I am sending this e-mail with regard to the 2005 Cobalt SS Supercharged Coupe.
I placed an order for a 2005 Cobalt SS Supercharged Coupe at my local Chevrolet dealership on August 10 of 2004 with the idea that I would take delivery of the car sometime in the "Late fall" time period, as it was advertised. Well, it is now March 3 of 2005 and I still haven't taken delivery of my car.
With that being said, I would appreciate it if you could give me some feedback to the following questions...
1) When did production begin? When will it end?
2) What is the current rate of production (i.e., one out of every ten spaces on the assembly line)?
3) What is the target number of vehicles to be produced (Rumor has it that only 700 are supposedly going to be made for the 2005 model year)?
Again, I would appreciate any feedback you can give me on the above questions.
Signed,
Frustrated Cobalt SS Supercharged Coupe Customer

Dear Mr. Rally Yellow SS S/C,
Let me address your questions in the order they were posed.
1) I don't know I am a marketing guy
2) I don't know I am a marketing guy
3) I don't know I am a marketing guy.
In short it was my job to get the advertisements out on time and I did. It's the production team that is behind. Please be upset with them. Here is a free GM hat.

not to be stuck up but as long as i get mine im not upset with a 700 number limit....if i dont when i graduate mayb ill get a redline there all over the place around here because people dont know what saturn is...people are stupid....but if only the people who preordered a cobalt get one im fine with that....it doesnt need to be something you walk into the shop and just pick up because then it would be as lame as a civic

From the GM marketing dept.:
The SS/SC production started in November 2004 and you should expect your car 4-6 weeks after that.
Better yet - please contact your dealer with any and all questions.
What a joke!

I have just receive your e-mail about your concern regarding the Cobalt

Chevrolet is bringing the complete line-up of Cobalt in Canada. The SS
Supercharged model has just start been built in our Lordstown plant and
will soon start arriving at our Canadian dealership.
Please contact your local dealership for more information. Depending on
which area of Canada you live in, maybe your dealership will need to
contact is GMCL(General Motors of Canada Limited) representative to verify
on is local availability of Cobalt SS-SC since it is already a very popular
model which has a lot of demand for.
Hope that is clarifying your concern,
Please contact your local dealership asap to place your order for this
incredible new Cobalt SS-SC,
Take care,
Alain Dionne

if i read one more thread that says "i emailed GM and..." im gonna blow up. I hope all the replies gm returns are generic saying "Thanks for your concern, we are on it)
This just goes to show that if your greedy and impatient things dont pay off. Why would anyone order a car before its released (especially if its a brand new model to the market).
whos to say a brand new model already has all the glitches worked out of it? Pretty confident in GM i suppose.

Well, when GM offers free XM and sunroof to pre-orderers, it's pretty hard to pass up. So there are valid points to both sides. I certainly don't blame those who have been waiting since last fall, but I can say the Cobalt is definitely worth the wait.
