The clunk/clank/jangle/bell/thingy you are trying to diagnose will either need a video or some better detective skills. Have a buddy rev the car slightly in the driveway, see if it does it there. If not try some driving. See if it does the same just by lifting off the throttle and not pushing in the clutch vs pushing in clutch. See if there is anything with the drivetrain causing the noise.

I was just wondering if anyone else's "sucking" noise was as loud, I guess I'm not used to it yet. As for the clunk, it's right when I let go of the gas to push in the clutch. I've noticed it really happen when I'm around 5vac. It doesn't do it when i get into boost though. I will upload a video of it as soon as I get home.

Thanks to all that have responded!
mines loud, love it

Since there are two different LNF valve covers there are two mount brackets that come with it. I'm not sure it'll fit with the wrong bracket, but I suppose anything is possible. If you have the wrong one on the intake tube will rub the shroud next to the MAF..

Well in my case it was my fault. K&N hadn't come out with the alternate bracket/brace for my version of the valve cover, so I had been running it without it, thinking that the properly tightened coupler where it meets the turbo would support it enough for the time being to get me by. I was only half correct. It held it up, as you can see it isn't resting on the A/C cap or screw, but as the engine shifted it did hit it... hard.

When K&N came out with the proper bracket, I immediately installed it and haven't had any problems since.

I have the proper bracket for my 08 and when its sitting it has about a 1/4 inch gap between the heat shield bolts and the intake tube. I'm thinking my motor mounts might be shot if the engine is to shake that hard under load...

Maybe you could put a few washers under that provided aluminum cylinder to act as spacers, to raise and get that mount up a bit higher.

is there a hole in the intake tube???!?!? Call K&N, tell them what happened and that you demand a new one because this one didnt fit right. Then check your spacing on the new one and adjust with washers if necessary.

We met up the other night. He definitely has rubbing from that bolt. We spoke about cutting it down (which I don't really like the idea of). The other noise he was concerned about was a normal noise. He was hearing the BPV pop open hard under load. Mine does the same thing.

You should start a thread where everyone who has this same problem could post pictures and then send it to K&N. See if they will warranty them.

I did end up cutting the bolt down and re threading it. IMO K&N did a bad job with fitment, if you moved the intake one way to avoid something it would end up hitting something else. Again, frogstofall, thank you for meeting up and diagnosing the noise with me. If my account had the privilege to upload videos/pictures I would. Could someone help me out with that?

Maybe you could just host the image somewhere else and then embed it in your post. All you have to do is take the web address for your picture and put "" without the quotes and it'll stick the pic in your thread. Some of the pics I have on here aren't originally hosted here.

Make sure to use the supplied support bracket is about it.

You're from Brenham? I fly out there sometimes. Sometimes I take some of the GMofHouston crew with me. Maybe we could meet up sometime.

I've noticed too that my rpms will bounce up and down by a couple hundred or so. It goes away as soon as it warms up though.

Most of us Houston folks have been around for a while, but it was usually organized through GMoH. I've been a part of it since early '09. We've got people spanning Cleveland, to Tomball, to Katy, to Humble, to Pasadena, to Pearland, to Cypress, etc., so our area covers a large area and we usually meet at central locations to do stuff.

That's funny that I'm actually running into someone that comes into Brenham. It's not exactly a metropolis lol.

I got my intake in the mail yesterday. About how long does it take to install? I don't want to start and then have the sun go down on me.

It takes about an hour if you're at least somewhat familiar with working under the hood.
