Installing S-Max Intercooler & CrYo Kit

Hi All,

I'm getting the first gen S-Max Intercooler for the balt (im beta testing for them) and Cryo kit as well, I'm having it installed on my bone stock motor and I will post dyno numbers as fast as the Hahn stuff comes in as well..

Any feed back would be great if anyone has heard of them either on balts or any other car...

Thanks.

just curious why does that intercooler look like a heat exchanger with the small inserts on the end instead of the traditional intercooler with the big ends on either side for the air to flow through

That's what I'm thinking. That's a heat exchanger not an intercooler. Don't even start to install that thing.

I'm going to do the cry02 as well. With you being an lnf you will probably see at least 10-15 whp if you're tuned.

I don't think you even need to call to verify. Think about the charge pipe location and size. The charge pipe on an SS TC is at the lower corners of the intercooler, not right next to each other.

Either they sent you the wrong intercooler/heat exchanger or they don't have an updated model for the SS/TC

This is an IC w/ cryo charge piping runnin inside the IC (orange caps) - its not a heat xchger, it's only to show you guys/gals what it will look like after they make the Cobalt model for us, this unit is 26.5x6x3 w/ the back door, ours will be 38.8x12x4 either sidedoor or backdoor..

Link to new pixs

- Backdoor is 90deg inlet ports facin back to the motor

- Sidedoor is straight inlet ports facin the R/L fenders

w/ just IC no Cryo - your lookin at 15% whp gain..

w/ the IC and Cryo - your lookin at 20-25% whp gain..

this is going to be confirmed via Dyno runs on a bone stock LNF motor at the end of the month...

Sorry if I'm too confused.

You won't see any gains because the ecm wont allow them, you'll see them in a first couple of pulls but then they'll disappear.

LOL, thank you. Then I say that's a great idea. Cryo plus IC built into one unit will be great for these cars.

LoL @ 25% whp gains.. Good luck with it. ON a stock car you won't see anything. On a tuned car you may see 10 whp.

Yeah...that seems way too high even on an aggresive tune.....if that were true, I would buy that intercooler first thing tommorow morning.

I think the 10whp estimate is spot on.

your both right, but i'm lookin to see if any hp/tq gains can be achieved with just a basic or very aggresive tune or with the new GMPP stage kit (learn down - turned off)..

I was thinking atleast 4 or 8 whp.. 10 is reaching it..

But let's see what happens when it goes on the Dyno in two weeks..

yes it is.. i found a guy in flo-rida who has cracked open LNF and added alot of GMPP parts from the catalog to make a monster.. he was able to get 580whp!! minus the orignal factory ECM..

he kept the block but changed the head, pistons/arm, cams, crank, valves, springs, made a custom ecm w tables/maps (like hondata) w DI ($5300), GT35R, custom header, custom box mani, custom IC and piping and more Hi Output GMPP all for under $38k..

and yes with that kind money you spend - you could get a beater and call it a day.. but some guys out there are willing to spend it - to get a 8 or 7 sec car and race for BIG BUCKS..
