pretty much every intake out there needs to be tuned for. personally i like the cia short ram and have no issues with it(im tuned)..... id also recommend a catless downpipe. they are all good for the most part.

Just mod your stock airbox. See the thread above this one.

i was originally considering that, what kinda hp numbers do you see in comparison to an actual after market intake and is there a sound difference at all

There will be a slight sound difference but I doubt there is a HP difference. The most restrictive part of the stock intake is by far is the stock air filter.

If you're keepin your gms1 then replace your stock filter with a K&N and buy a down pipe. Pretty much any aftermarket intake, cai or sri, should be tuned for that intake

I don't know why you would need a tune for a intake if your car has been tuned from GM Stage 1, Superchips, or BSR. I'm thinking of going with the Hahn or KN with my GM Stage 1 kit.

Neither of those three tunes are tuned for any air intake. LNF engines seem to have a different reaction to all air intakes....from what I understand.

So how do I cure the MAF skew issue w/o a tune? I order my CP (hotside) from Genuine Saab to put in to replace the restrictive CP, which shouldn't cause any issues. The next would be the Cool Ram from Hahn, which they claim it wouldn't throw any code out and KN is still in the worx of the SRI coming out.

Hahn will not throw a code even if you are not tuned. You really just need to be tuned for the intake if you want to get the horsepower out of it. and really theres not much hp to get out of just the intake.

Sounds good enough. Just might do that when I get my next couple a checks put together I'll order the Hahn, but I'm lacking paitents for KN to release their own SRI.

It won't throw a code but how much does the intake skew the MAF? Apparently its within value to not throw a code, I'm just curious.

About 10 - 12% depending on the conditions. It takes 25% to throw a code IIRC.
