just got megan racing dp...

hey just got my megan racing downpipe.. installed it ...got engine light 20k down the road.. installed non-foulers.. erased code and never came back..
so i have my stock exhaust on and just not used to the sound that it makes at full throttle.. just wondering if its normal to have alot more sound right under the floor/dashboard(general direction of dp).. especially when you no lift shift! the pops out the tailpipe have turned into pows under the floor!.. dont see any exhaust leaks and have checked all nuts are tight.. just amazed on how much more noise it makes under heavy throttle! more than any muffler i have put on a car... thats normal right? thanks

got mine thru driftnamiperformance.com.. local parts guy i deal with.. 183.00 shipped had to pay 37.00 customs fees...

and i nls alot! lol.. love it!... just it went from a pop out the tailpipe to quite a loud "snap" under the car.. its quiet as stock at normal throttle.. but 3/4 to full throttle its quite a bit louder! the cats must have took alot of boom from the nls'ing..

oh and the p0420 code came back.. so gonna have to keep my code reader handy..

also not sure if i like the exhaust note now.. sounded better stock, but see a big power difference so its gonna have to stay..

i actually just got the p0420 code satruday night cleared it out and been fine ever since and if you get tuned you can just get rid of it and if you want a better sound get a new muffler or do muffler delete or get a exhaust

ive went thru the whole exhaust vs cops deal with my last cobalt and dont wanna go that route again.. too, my old car i had a weld on magnaflow muffler and it failed inspection because it was a straight thru muffler... i found a loop hole that the garage uses a broom handle and if it goes directly thru the muffler they fail it so i put a bolt thru the pipe and that passed it but the cops pulled me over the next week for loud exhaust... so cant be bothered to play their games anymore.. getting too old and want a stock car with good power.. i have gms1 and am very happy with its results. i like to autocross and i find without getting slicks/heavy modding the car has too much power to put it all to the ground.. and would like to stay in the stock class..

so ill put up with clearing the code every day till spring and then will look into doing something different with the defoulers, if that dont work then ill look into getting the 02 tuned out.. if it all ends up being not worth it i MAY just put the stock downpipe back on and call it totally quits on modding this car and just enjoying it...

Yeah nova scotia blows when it comes to safety inspection. I had the same problem with my g5 gt because I had a tsudo exhaust and it failed, so I had to do a custom exhaust with a dynomax chambered muffler. The check engine i'm afraid your gunna have to get it tuned out, I had to do the samething when I got my header and downpipe.

I'm from halifax man, where you at? Yeah I guess the only thing you could do is cut the muffler off and then have you could a piece a piping with a tip and then clamp it on in place of the muffler. That way you could swap the muffler back when inspection is needed.
