LE5 throttle body on LNF engine?

Anybody tried opening up the intake manifold and plugging LE5 on their LNF engine?

was planning to go with straight 3" IC pipings, and 3" ic inlet and outlet.....and using LE5 TB so there'll be no bottleneck.

just wondering if somebody already did it..........and if there are any issues that arised..

I know there are people running larger throttle bodies but im not sure what they used... i havnt compared a LE5 TB to ours.. wonder if it will bolt up? The last LE5 Tb i saw was fairly small though.. not sure if it will net us any gains.

BYT knows something, he hinted of a way to remove the throttle lag, might be this. IDK.

Let us know how it goes.

You can use a le5 throttle body, there is one that has the same plug in as the lnf. There are some people that have done it and they picked up about 10whp, I dont remember if that was on a stock turbo or big turbo tho.

gmtech opened his intake manifold to install LE5 TB, I just found out today.

he has to modify the DALs and MALTs and torque tables......

zzp had tried this once and said it took a bit of tuning to get it right... something about the ecm has been designed around calculated surface area of the stock throttle body... i cant remember specifics.

What we found was that if the ECM is not far from stock, it will compensate for the pressure drop change and gains are hard to come by. On the other hand, if the desired air loads are beyond an achieveable threshold, there are gains to be had by increasing the throttle plate diameter with the stock turbo.

On our S252 turbo swap, we picked up 8whp when I tried the LE5 TB. Unfortunately, throttle control for daily driving was too touchy so I went back to the stock TB. I imagine you could lower the DALs at low load to slow the throttle rate down some.

Bummer you had to give up 8hp because you couldn't figure out how to smooth throttle response.

(Oops, did I say that out loud? Oh well.)

Would you suggest, on an LNF with a turbo kit like mine, to get the stock TB ported (like Nick will do on mine) or to just get the LE5 TB?

Giving up 8 when you've got over 500 (in a street car) for the sake of drivability seems quite logical to me.....

I'm not sure what you are saying there. I didn't make any attempt to adjust the throttle response at that time. The experiment was to see if the TB would work as a simple bolt-on. In case you hadn't noticed, people throw fits when we sell a part with our tune required.
On the other hand, when someone else gets within 80 whp as us, the 8whp I left on the table might matter. lol.
