K&N Clarification

So the K&N SRI vs the drop in Filter...

So the SRI adds ~12 whp, improves fuel economy a bit and makes a cool "BOV" noise. Could cause warranty issues?
The drop in adds ~5-6 whp and doesn't provide any else above?

So am I missing any benefits of getting the SRI over the drop in? It would be nice to have the whole SRI, but being that the drop in is like 5x cheaper, I hardly see the benefits if it could affect my warranty.

SRI looks better, get to remove all that plastic intake crap

SRI sounds better

Drop in is simple to install

All about what you want

The HP numbers won't always be the same and you will need a tune to get full affect

If the SRI really does add to your fuel economy (I've heard reports of 2 MPG higher) then MAYBE it would be worth it I guess. Honestly, I'm not overly concerned with what the car looks like under the hood.

I doubt the K&N drop-in adds 5-6 WHP. Better gas milage = maybe???

I'm going to get one just because the stock air filters are like $60 at the GM Dealer, and I can get the K&N drop-in for $53.

K&N Drop in air filter 08+ Chevy Cobalt SS Turbo - 08+ Chevrolet Cobalt SS Turbo Air Intake Systems, Cold Air intake, Short Ram int

According to mpx's site it does. But I'd imagine you'd need a tune to see this gain.

These HP numbers are usually calculated in the best case controlled scenarios

Just get what you want and be happy with it

Yeah, Trifecta "Buget Tune" only allows for Drop-In, Cat-Back and Charge Pipes.

Might make a small difference with my GMS1. I'll find out soon.

How much power does the budget tune add?

Contact Vince@Trifecta. He'll know for sure.
I'd say about GMS1 levels, maybe 5% more. No GM warranty though.

Also no data logging on the B.T.
Basically a canned Trifecta Tune.

The stock intake is miserably restrictive at the turbo inlet. Airbox mod or short ram is definitely a must imo

with the intake tube you do not need a retune but with the drop in, you should, my trims were off by 7 or 12% on gms1 i dont remember which it was.
