K&N SRI Vs. Treadstone CAI

Looking at getting an intake for the car, I will be getting stage 1 map sensors and getting the car tuned so I don't have to worry about it. I know alot of people run the K&N intake and the treadstone seems to be a little newer with not alot of info out there on it. Does anyone have any real experience with either intake and can suggest what intake to get? I know it will only give me very little hp increase if any, mainly looking to get one for looks and sound and figured I'll pick one up before I take it in to get tuned.

You will surely hear the K+N. There is no mistaking or missing that sound.

I have the K&N and I love it. The reason I decided to get the K&N is because it is a SRI and the Treadstone is CAI. I drive my car year round so I didnt want to worry about the CAI in the fender well. The K&N sounds AMAZING btw! I'm the the treadstone sounds pretty good. They are both good products so you will be okay with either one!

I have a K&N, but I want a Treadstone for the MAF straightener! Nothing wrong with my K&N, but I hate it when I clean my filter and forget how I had my filter on my car and have to spend all this time to figure out where it was.

I know I know my idiot mistake for not marking it or looking at it before I take it off. Still, I'd prefer a Treadstone.

If you wanna buy mine, you'd help me get a Treadstone

That's my point though. I bought my K+N (and a bunch of other stuff) from you because you guys are ALWAYS ON HERE.

Try to PM the Treadstone guy. Go head. I did once, about an intercooler. Still waiting for a response, but it's been a while. Like months.

PM TTR. You'll get a response in less than an hour if Aaron or someone is awake and had coffee.

That matters to me.

This isn't a really good video for sound, but here ya go. I spent less than a minute looking for one and I don't feel like searching any more.

1) Take a picture on your phone. You will always have it. I know exactly what you mean, and for that reason still have pictures on the m.a.f orientation for a C5 with a Calloway Honker on my phone.

2) Unless I am mistaken, I thought I was reading where they sell the straightener separately so you could put it in your K+N.

They do sell the straightener separate, I was thinking possibly pick it up for the K&N if thats the route i decide to go. Still undecided was just hoping to get some opinions on here of what people have ran and had experience with.

I haven't run the Treadstone so I can't offer much of an opinion other than I do have their intercooler and it is a nice unit. I'd suspect the CAI would be too. I can tell you that the K+N is a well built, well engineered unit that works quite well and sounds good. Some people find they have to run it with the K+N lable upside down or they get a code, some have success right side up. You'll know as soon as you start the car the first time if yours is right or not. Once you have it oriented right it'll never give you a code again.

Love my K&N. One of the few mods that I've done to my car and never looked back on. Dealer doesn't seem to care either haha.

CAI is pointless on a turbo car, the air is going to get superheated in the turbo anyways.... get the sri. wont suck up water, sounds great and performs great

Hell yeah, this is good info. How do I get it in there? Pay someone to weld it (Don't have a welder) or is there something else I can do?

Agreed... this is very interesting to me also. So where do we purchase the honeycomb type thingy? Lol.... And better yet , what size of honey comb would I buy to find inside of the k&n sri ? Also , how do you secure it in place tightly so it doesnt move around ?

The sounds my SRI makes is amazing (: I also like how you open the hood and you see a cone right there instead of another looking charge pipe thing... Mine sounds amazing and wouldn't get any other one.

It doesn't say what it is made out of, but the K+N is steel If I remember right, and these are probably aluminum, which means welding is out. Perhaps you could braize it, but I would just use some really good epoxy.

Not sure on the diameter. I haven't taken the filter off since august. Wouldn't take but a minute for you to pop it off and take a tape measure to it though. They're sure cheap. I might have to do mine.
