Knock Retard issue

so my knock retard moves to the first line, which I think its .5 or idk how you guys would call it. I was told it because of my timing chain, the rattle does appear on cold starts and the RPMs move on idle at times, sometimes even more aggressively. I did the timing chain, bought the whole clones kit, even changed the water pump since the OEM had 131k miles in it.
Now knock retard stays the same, and sometimes but less occurrent it revs during idle, the car does sound better, but the RPMs even on idle are at 800rpms, just a bit under 1000.

Did the timing chain replacement go bad or could this be PCV valve related?

I also have a lot of exhaust noise, it moves a lot, I heard some people say that can cause the knock retard to move. im not sure I dont have much knowledge on this. any info would help.

How are you seeing this knock? Yes a failed PCV can cause knock if you are getting oil into the cyls.

The best bet would be to get a log to see where the trims are. If the trims are off for any reason the engine will show knock. I had knock basically just because I had a cold air intake.

I do have a cold air intake, I took it off and put the stock, after 2-3 days of driving its gotten better, but KR is barely noticeable going to +5 but the engine does sound better, thats crazy if I can't even have an intake on it

Changing the intake affects the reading of the MAF which is in the intake. Once you start to modify these cars you need to tune it.

this was happening with stock intake, I put the injen then it got worse so I put it back to stock, it does it less. you think maybe it takes a couple of drives for the PCM to relearn the stock intake?

How are your plugs? Are you running AC Delcos? It's hard to say what is going to happen without seeing where the fuel trims are. I logged a stock 5.3 LS with only an intake and the trims were off by +10%
