Larger Turbo?
Ok, so the best, or more logical option, is to upgrade the intake and exhaust before messing with the turbo. Someone mentioned that going with a larger turbo would require the inner cooler to be mounted in the front of the car. I believe mine is already mounted in front of the radiator. Am I correct on this? (Sorry, I do not know much about turbos yet)
Also, IF GM decides to provide stage kits for this car, wouldn't the stock transmission be made to handle it? I will feel better about gaining more HP if GM announces a stage kit. Hopefully it will mean that they have prepared the other components, the transmission, fuel system, clutch, and cooling system, for the abuse. (Again, I am not confident in this so please correct me if I am wrong.)

That was me that mentioned upgrading to a front mount intercooler with a bigger turbo. I had a senior moment and was thinking Subaru. The point is, there is a lot of upgrades and supporting mods that go with a bigger turbo. Depending on how big a turbo you upgraded to, you might need a better intercooler and maybe even meth/water injection at some point.
The first things I would personally do if you are serious about performance is a Synapse downpipe, Hahn 3" catback exhaust, CAI, and then something like the BSR PPC tuner that Hahn sells (or HPT if they ever figure out the new SS/TC PCM).

Cat back, downpipe or CAI (whichever comes first), intercooler, tune, charge piping, turbo. Do all the supporting mods first, then upgrade the turbo.
Haha I was a little closer on my way back, I-40 to 95. Actually I-40 is where I had a bit of an encounter with a sr20 swapped 240...this encounter is what really impressed me about my new car haha.
not to burst anyone's bubble on the transmission issue, but ive got to disagree on the comment, "if gm can do anything right, its their transmissions.", in an SS, this may seem true, but check out the LS tranny....lol, very light duty and will break, ask any LS owner thats pushed their 2.2 to the limit, they ll tell you the tranny went really quick. lol
Well that's what you get for having a 2.2L Cobalt LS...
I'm not saying that all of their trans are perfect, but if you look at GM's trans for their trucks, cars, vans, SUV's etc for the most part the trans is the last thing to go...
My other question is how do you beat on a 2.2L Cobalt LS???
