Leaking Turbo

Swapped turbos out today and i am still suffering from a oil leak from the top dead center banjo fitting, finally inspected the bolt today and it looked a tad bit stripped, hopefully when i order another one that cures the problem. I have had a leak in the same spot on a previous turbo but it was more of a drip, the new one just pours out

Did you get a new banjo gasket? There is supposed to be a gasket there.

Yeah, but it has a coating on it that rubs off and helps seal.

Yeah I'm thinking it's not trashed and it may have been that bolt when I get this new one I'm gonna put it in the one that's in now if it still leaks then I will swap them out

Are you leaking from the oil line, or coolant line?

Believe it or not, the gaskets do crush down a bit a score due to them being copper. I would avoid re-using the gaskets to avoid this exact issue. They are cheap enough and relatively easy to find.

Not to ask a stupid question, but did you put a washer on each side of the banjo fitting (bolt head side and turbo side)?

It could be an easy thing to accidentally miss so I'm just making sure..

lol.. wait, what?

I'm not sure how to take that post. So I'll just answer it seriously.

There should be a copper washer on each side of the banjo fitting. One between the banjo fitting and the bolt head, and another between the bottom of the banjo fitting and the turbo. It needs to seal on both sides of the fitting don't forget

no i was being 100% serious i thought it was only suppose to be the banjo fitting so does the bolt come with the new fitting and i just need to order two of the oil feed washers and i should be good to go when i took it apart before i don't remember it being copper washers

I can't say for sure, but it should come with the washers and bolts. Are the bolts that were on there trashed?

Here's a basic pic of what you should be seeing. Granted this is not our turbo, but it's still the same idea when it comes to banjo bolts. Notice between the bolt head and the banjo fitting there is a copper washer. There will be another copper washer below the fitting where it meets with the turbo.

No, its not a copper washer on ours. Its a gasket that has two rings attached to each other by a strand of gasket and each ring goes on a side of the banjo fitting on the line with the banjo bolt going through it.

it sounds as though it goes turbo, gasket, banjo, gasket, and bolt ties everything together
