I found a couple threads semi related to this, but did not see where anyone had actually sent their injectors out to be cleaned and tested. There are a few places that can handle GDI, so I was just curious.

 

In for answers never seen this topic discussed. Seems like eventually some kind of contaminates would diminish their performance

 

I asked a Mazda guy and it seems they are using Injector RX for general cleaning, but they are not tested at full pressure.

Precisionline Fuel Injectors, in Canada, has a setup to test at 2000psi.

I'm not sure which one I'll try yet, but I plan to send my injectors somewhere, since I have the car tore apart.

 

Well for part of what they charge for GDI injectors at Injector RX you could just buy an sonicator and then clean them yourself.

 

Send a messege to RobSSturbo. He has had his cleaned by a company local to him in Florida. They flow test them before and after the cleaning. He had a print out showing the before and after flow rates.

 

Normally injectors are cycled while being cleaned. Also, there would be no proof of a good spray pattern or proper operation afterwards.

That's what Injector RX does. I'm just debating on whether or not to try the Canadian place that tests them at operating pressure. The Mazda guys have had some issues where faulty injectors have passed testing using low pressure, but do not work with full pressure.

 

So, injector RX won't test them at operating pressure?

 

The Canadian place is the only one that's known to test at operating pressure. Regular injectors are tested at 43psi. Some places that can do GDI test at about 70psi. That seems to be the standard practice currently. Like I said earlier, there have been some cases where faulty injectors tested good at low pressure. If you don't suspect you have a bad injector it might not be necessary. It's just something to think about.
