LNF tuning questions

I have been debating on what tune to get for a while now, I know it's best to get one and I'm dying for one BUT I don't know which exactly to go with. (I've never had a tuned car)

My idea so far is HP Tuners and on top of that get the E-47 tune. Im not too worried about stations

So I get the standard HP Tuner module (best option for me since i don't know **** about tuning? Right?) do some logs find a reputable tuner via email through css.net.

My biggest question is for E-whatever I have read that I don't need any supporting mods but what blend do I go with? Since 85 goes to 70 in winter if i hit a 1:1 (47) would I need to have a winter tune? I read the thread in January about blends but there seemed to be 2 out of 4 LNF's with blown motors because of low fuel/rail pressure?

I want a tune to get me past the 300whp mark and I want an Eblend to push it a tad more without causing failure. I read that anything past 47 is slight gains. not to say its pointless, but just better for me to have a slightly less volatile tune that also requires a winter tune and extra complications.

so all in all what blend is safest/best for my criteria and has the tuning for it been perfected?

I couldnt find much more updated stuff for me so sorry if I **** anyone off for asking.

Thanks

The standard version of HPTuners is the same software as the Pro. THe Pro has provisions for external inputs from a wideband 02 sensor you don't need on an LNF, you have one factory. Pro also has the capability to do stand alone logging (without a laptop) on some cars, but not the LNF last I knew.

The difference between E47 and E43 isn't going to need a retune, the LTFT's will shift 1-2% is all. E47 for you will be fine, you might be able to go full E85, but it would be for convenience only. Stock most can run full E85, you can make bolted LNF's run it, but tapering boost & other trickery might have to be done to get you through the midrange. If I can't use the midrange torque we can make...what's the point? I prefer 60% E catless as it smells better. No real gain to it.

If it becomes to overwhelming, many of us on here and the HPTuners forum tune & log via email once you have the software. Lots of help & info in the HPT forums also.

I heard about tapering the boost, so any way to save midrange and still get the top end power? Fuel rail modification? It's the Emix worth it?

Iam Broke is saying that you will only potentially run into issues if you run straight E85, and the only real benefit is purely out of convenience of not needing to make a blend. If you run a blend such as e47 you won't run into any volume/pressure issues. The biggest down side of course is the fact that you need to blend your fuel.

correct. You will only run into fuel issues with a well modified lNF running full E85. Ive been running a mix on my car for about half a year now. If not longer. Ive had no issues fuel wise so far. HPtuners is the way to go with the tune. There is soo many more possibilites than other vendors and at your fingertips.

Couldn't have put it better myself.

I can't access CSS from work anymore so I'm rarely here during the day. I think it's the ads they subscribe to in the banners that keeps the pages from loading.

i dont know of tuners near Virginia Beach but i know NC theres MDub but idk if hes still tuning people, i remember he was in a thread talking about how someone he tuned complained that he blew his motor up even though it wasnt the tune that did it... and im from illinois occasionally take leave there I WISH i had the ability to go to performance autowerks and whatnot out in Illinois but oh well

sweet so ive got a goal... HP Tuner with an E47(ish) blend! i cant wait, ill most likely (if all things go according to plan) have my tuner in mid oct after my detachment to San Diego.

I thank all of you for your help, i think this is do-able. ill be filling you in as i get the tuner and funds. except YOU Iam broke! **** you and your awesome WS6! SLP none the less... haha

Honestly I think you were on a high reading dyno to pull out 296 whp with a GMS1/Bolt ons.

Most people see 270-280ish.

Best thing to do is use the same dyno so you can compare your results with the more mods you do.

with gms1 ONLY i was hitting 262whp and 287wtq i believe?

all my runs are on the same dyno with similar temps and standard correction factor with a smoothing of 5

my buddys 04 mach 1 is also running the same dyno with same CF and smoothing. hes got exhaust, i believe an Under drive pulley and a few other things with a tune. hes pushing 287whp and 310?wtq.
