low oil 1,000 miles

hey wats up was wondering if anyone had this problem,i got a 2009 cobalt ss turbo.... checked the oil the day i got it and everything was perfect and and level then like recenlty i just wanted 2 check the oil and i was down a half a quart...only a little showing on the dipstick....was wondering anyone else have this problem 2... o only have a 1,000 miles on it...im thinking blow by but thats alot of oil though

You may be burning alot off because the motor isn't broken in. One thing I can say is top it off and go put a couple of good loads on the motor. I'm not sayn dog the not broken in motor but get on it a little, it should help seat the rings on the pistons. I think thats why they say while breaking it in drive in a mix of speeds.

yea i was thing of that....buti filled it up right away right after i saw it low and... im gonna see if its gonna happen againif it does then ill bring it in for service i thought that was pretty strange though ha

make sure the car has been sitting off for 10-15 min to allow all the oil to drain back into the pan.

i did that.....then i went back and still had the same prob i just topped it off im gonna seee if it happens again... i was just wondering if anyone had this problem also

I'd say read your manual again at how to check the oil....the manual only says to wait a few minutes for the oil to drain.

The engine should also be at operating temperature before you check it.

Make sure your reading your dipstick correctly.....meaning you HAVE TO push the stick in ALL THE WAY before pulling it back out to check the level.

If you put the stick in just until it stops and not all the way in your readings will obviously be off.
