Lsj g85 tranny on a LNF

Ok so about a couple of weeks ago I blew my 2nd gear syncros and 3rd gear gears...(don't ask how) and I bought a g85 tranny with LSD...I have 800 miles on it and works perfect!! Different final gear... I can't wait till I get my big turbo on and see how this monster does!!!!

I was always curious about this. I thought the transmission between the two were the same.

The CV shafts are much beefier on the LNF but they bolt up directly to the lSJ trans so I am willing to bet the OP is using his CV shafts with the LSJ trans. If I ever blow my trans I would put an LSJ trans in my car. I would rather have the shorter FD ratio.

If the trans are the same why would the clutch be different? I mean I have a lnf TOB in my trans.

I asked zzp about the 4.05 and 4.45 gear and they said it's better because you are not in third gear as long, so you don't put as much stress on third gear.

same basic trans, same model. LNF has a stronger case and 3.82 final drive
just swapped 2 over the weekend. LNF 4.45 setup into a turbo swapped LSJ gt3076r (awesome gearing now).
and an 4.45 rebuilt lsj trans into an 09 lnf w/ a gt3076r that car is yet to be finished since it was converted to auto, and now back to manual.
.

The LNF clutch is the same as the GMPP clutch for the LSJs.

It is from what I have heard, but I bet LSJ trans is a whole heck of a lot cheaper and easier to come by.

I definitely would go LSJ if mine blew, I'm not waiting 3 months to have my car fixed by GM under warranty.
Anyone know offhand how well a LSJ trans will hold up cryo treated? Might be something to do if I happen upon a cheap LSJ tranny for a back up for when mine blows (not if, but when)?

Why did you make another thread?

You won't find parts to beef it up with, and very few places will work on it anyway.

Contact Powell motorsports, best bet.
