max power handling of stock TC

What is the max HP our tranny can handle? I am just curious to know how far I can go before I have to start changing too many stock parts

the clutch will hold till ~350whp... now the internals pushing them will hold 530whp but in a month you will bend the rods... so may be 450whp you got your self in the "safe" field... remember all these depends on the tune and AFR...

340hp is the official number from gm on the clutch. Thats why the stage 1 kit only gets you 320 torque which in turn limits the the hp to 280 because we all know that hp and torque have a linear relationship.

What part of ''TRANNY'' everybody is not getting?

And thats hard to answer. Some guys pushes over 500 whp in ss/sc cars, but the lower final gear seems to helps them. Some also have blown them going from a roll, with a lot of power. It's all in how you drive it, with a bit of luck...

first thing clutches are rated in torque not hp. Second if you know how to drive you won't have any problems with the tranny with what we have available.

That'll be quite a show... but you'll only get to do it once.

Maybe you could pop a nicely sized NLS flame out of it though.

clutch gives out around 360ish wtq? (start to slip)

Tranny.... well the tranny's @ ZZP saw 500whp but the clutch will take a **** long before that...

But you are gonna run out of fuel long before the clutch gives out... You are counting your chickens before they hatch here.

400ish WHP is where you will start running out of fuel.

So a fueling system fix is needed, either with Trifecta Trickery, or whatever you decide to use.

Then a good clutch ( I am going with Exedy Hyper Single)...

So if you can squeeze out 400whp (anymore than that you will need to do internals...

You see where this question is more of a loaded hypothetical question....

Don't need a turbo swap to do that... I do it all the time!

My clutch started slipping between 340-350wtq. I was able to put down highest 343wtq. More than that and the dyno curve did a loop. I have heard of others pushing near 390wtq and no issues with the clutch. Hit and miss I guess when it comes to replacement. To be safe, if you have the funds, I would get a new clutch when you're approaching 350wtq.

I agree. The first pass every time at the track was my lowest 60. I think it just got to hot and slipped after that.

I don't know how much power I'm making (HP tuned and catless DP), but clutch slips sometimes in 3rd. Wouldn't want to see what would happen in 5th haha.

Ryan destroyed his LNF trans at about 480whp on his twincharge setup. It did the typical strip all the teeth off 3rd gear. This has happened to people at a lot less power, it just depends on how hard you shift.

wow thats news to me. How shitty.

So a built tranny and rods are needed for high hp levels.

Then again though, who wants a 500 hp FWD car.....
