Mine does the same thing, this may be due to the speedo wich I found reads about 2mph lower than the actual speed on the GPS.

LOL I always thought my speedo reads too slow. driving 80 mpg just doesn't seem like your going that fast anymore.

But I have yet to get 69 mph in 2nd gear

For 225/40/18 tires, with the gear ratios of the ss/tc, the theoretical top speeds are

6300 rpm
1st 36
2nd 70
3rd 104
4th 138
5th 176

This is all mechanical, so if you can't go faster than 60 in 2nd gear, you just need to push the gas harder.

Why must you post a duplicate of your other thread, made the same day, yet 16 hours apart?

With a 6800-7000RPM redline, Yes the car will hit 69 in 2nd and 105 in third...... Stock redline, ... you are correct, about 62 in 2nd and 100 in 3rd.....

My redline is 6800 so I go 37 in first, 70 in 2nd, 109 in 3rd and 14X in 4th... I've yet to find out about 4th gear as the car seems to hit a brick wall up there despite 290 whp.....

I really dont feel this thing will go faster then 150..... Not enough power\gearing to push 2950 lbs throught the air that fast......

You must have a higher magical redline then 6300rpm, when stock my car flatens out on the 6300 rpm redline at 61 mph and 99-100 in third gear with stock 225/35/18's SS\TC.

Your gear speeds are the same that Hahn has for their Ss\TC with a 7000 RPM redline in 1-st and 2nd but 3rd gear to 5th in their car is back to 6300 rpm and Hahns car only hits
100 in 3rd... He says he goes throught the 1\4 in 4th, which is true... Now that I've a 9800 rpm redline 1-5th I can clear the 1\4 in 3rd and run 109-110 mph trap speeds...

We'd need well over 350 whp to get the car (SS\TC) to it's theroretical top speed...... My 2006 GTO's 6th gear was a economy gear but that gears hypothetical top speed is 223 mph...I'd need over 880 whp to hit that mark,,,,,

You have a 9800 redline eh? Sweet. Tell your engine I say a prayer for it every night.

Oh, and good job with posting 7 replies.

No, I have what's called accurate numbers derived from the mathematics of gear ratios, axle ratios, and tire sizes. My numbers are right, yours are not. I have math on my side, you have your eyeballs on a speedometer.

Also, stock tires are 40 series, not 35.

Or your clutch is slipping. . I have noted the exact same issue with my speedometer. My car was hitting 111-112 mph at 6800 in third on the dyno's speedometer which is definately accurate. My cars speedometer was reading 105 mph ish so it runs about 6-7 mph slow. When cruising it is amazingly accurate though. When acceleratin or decelerating it lags behind quite a bit. Makes it seem like you are not accelerating as fast as you really are.

Except for the higher gears. 4th or 5th. Most vehicles are not redline limited they are drag limited as far as overall top speed. I see your point though. Drag does not really matter in most gears.

I think he means in calculating the theoretical top speed in each gear. In other words, factoring out power, drag, etc. and just focusing on the gear ratios and engine limitations.

i had an audi a4 1.8 that did 140.... they only have 150hp... and it was stock, so i'm sure if anything it had LESS than that... i'm positive that my stock 09 ss/tc will do 160, unless gearing is going to stop it.... i hit 140 in mine in the same stretch as the a4, and did it in about a mile less space.... LOL!

the mechanical top speed is the same regardless of any other conditions. You may not be able to get to the top speed in each gear, but mechanically, the top speed doesn't change.
