if its a custom catback, its a tip, a muffler, and pipe sizing of your choice

ummm.....??

custom means you make it or design. otherwise it wouldn't be custom? are you asking what the exhaust consists of? perhaps some research (i.e. google search) is in order.

but basically the exhaust starts inside your engine. inside your cylinder chamber, after your air/gas mixture ignites, there is left over exhaust. so on the second stroke, the piston pushes up and the exhaust valve(s) in your cylinder head open so the gas can be released. Attached to your cylinder head is an exhaust manifold that connects to four ports on the head. These four ports (via the manifold) collect into one bigger port that is connected to your turbocharger. As exhaust flows out it spins the turbo and compresses the intake air. Anyway, attached to your turbocharger is a downpipe, so the exhaust gas coming out of the turbo goes down through that and into a pipe. The there is your catalytic converter (makes exhaust safer for the environment). Then depending on the car it may go through a resonator or two to make it quieter and then to the muffler and out the back.

So more simply your "exhaust" consists of
exhaust manifold -> turbo -> downpipe -> catalytic converter -> resonator -> muffler

I hope that was helpful.

Not even close to the dumbest question ever asked..... don't worry about it.

2 of the best were the question about Summer air in the tires... (The older members here will remember)

And the one about the blinker fluid... hahahaha

just means its not a kit you buy from someone. Think about a custom built computer. It could be all the same components as a kit built off the shelf, but its pieced together instead of buying it all at once.
