To those that say paying around $100 is getting raped is retarded to me. After seeing the hack jobs around here with clamps is just plain ugly whether you can see it or not. No offense to anyone with them but I can't stand putting clamps on it.
I paid $100 to have my muffler removed, pipe bent so it fit like stock (not angled) and had the stock tip and pipe welded to the factory pipe with brackets welded to the pipe to hold it.

I know I have a VW but it cost me $150 to have Mieneke cut off my muffler and weld on a pipe using my stock tip. charged me $90 for 1 foot of pipe. Then $250 to take out the resonator which was 2 feet of pipe.

ill break it down how to style
1. go to pepboys and get a 21/2 inch exaust pipe
2. cuplers should be near the pipes get a 21/2 one
3. put the cupler over the price tag on the exaust pipe
4. bring it up to the counter and the girl will ring you up for the cupler only
5. go pick up some beer
6. bring the beer and parts to ur buddys house
7. do the exaust mod and drink beer
8. go back to pep boys and return the cupler
9. walk out laughing because you just got free parts
10. drive by some srt4's and let ur car rumble so they look and are like "wtf a cobalt"

if you are doing it yourself, invest in some band clamps.
you got charged $90 for a foot of pipe? were you ******* high? my 18inch dynomax stainless steel muffler retails for that.

Ok so deceiving a register worker by deliberately hiding one product's price with another product .....then knowing you only paid for one product.... but are actually in possession of two products ......you then proceed to walk out of the store...... how isn't that stealing??

My solution:
Exhaust shop custom-bent 14" pipe according to my crude drawing by hand- $25.
Glass pack- $50.
One quick weld on a short piece of pipe to connect the OEM 8" tip to the muffler- free.
4 muffler clamps and a "universal" rubber hanger- ~$10.
Total ~$ 85 + ~ an hour to cut off the OEM muffler and tip with a sawz-all, measure the OEM muffler on the floor and draw a picture of how I wanted the custom pipe made, and final assembly of the pieces.
Looking like stock, sounding WAY better, weighing less, clearing the LR spring with room to spare, and tip exiting at the right spot at the correct angle- worth lots more. I happy

20 bucks cash = factory tip on pipe with v welded hanger and perfect fit. Good Ol boy mechanic with a good eye and welding skills equals one awesome job. He jacked it up and was done in 20 min and it was perfect...hell he even said my rear brakes were wearing premature and to take that Sht back to the dealer.
