My airbox mod
My airbox mod
I know there is a airbox mod, but I traded in my 2010 f150 to save money. Here is what I did I was looking at the lid of the stock airbox and noticed the plastic actually goes through the lid. I trimmed around the pipe and bolted on a air filter and bam. To get the CEL to go off and stay off unplug the battery and wait for about 10 mins. Hook it back up then turn your key just to where you hear the car start, but don't start it 3 times. Then you can start it and no CEL. Here is a finish picture of the look.
Let me know what you guys think.

Also know how to keep the foglights on instead of headlights for your DRL's.

Looks good. I did something like this for a short while a couple of years ago when I first got the car. It did it's job, however it really didn't contribute anything performance/flow wise. The weak point in the stock intake system isn't so much the airbox itself, it's the snorkle hose that goes from the box to the turbo. If you've ever seen one off of the car you will no doubt see exactly where these restrictions are and why this is the weak point.
On the up side, the bpv probably sounds a whole hell of alot cooler with just an open cone filter on the intake like that

coming from personal experience...
Your fuel trims will absolutely be out of whack with zero gain in performance.... basically just like any short ram just thrown on the car without tuning (aside for the k&n so it seems). The bpv does sound great though..

this was the first thing i did when i got the car... but i got a real K&N (less likely to collapse under boost) i'll plug my scan tool in and let you guys know about the fuel trims, i bet they'll be alright but who knows
also, i cant tell by the picture but if you havent, i would try the support the assembly somehow not just let it dangle, you might snap the pcv fitting on the intake pipe. i used the oe (the two stups sticking out) mounting point for the oe airbox.

Thank you everyone. Sorry for the late post. On fuel trim unsure, but my air/ fuel ratio is normal with reading of the gauge. haven't seen a decrease in mpg. The horsepower I got to 265 and my boost got up to I believe 16 or 17. You can defiantly hear the intake.
With the foglights I was tired of having to hit the switch so I found out it is a ground loop through the switch. I popped out the trim and three wires cut one of them and just piggy back one of the other wires going to that switch. I will hook up a actually switch though since I can't turn of the DRL's, but atleast it keeps my headlights off and foglights on. I can take pictures if anyone is interested.

so today at work i plugged in three different scan tools. matco determinator, snap on modis and a tech2, fuel trims with this exact mod are: Long term -1% short term was switching between -1 to 1%. i never understood why people are so quick to say "your fuel trims are gonna be wack..." if they were out of range that they are supposed to be, you would have a check engine light... ohh and it sounds awesome but no real gains in power, atleast thats what i think.
