getting rid of that caged box of a factory intake ..yeah getting rid of basically a CAI for an under the hood intake.
Don't sell the stocker short...I will keep mine on thank you.

Hey..I'm not knocking OPs set up...prolly BETTER than K&N! As I pointed out he has a DUAL CONE on the filter..could be smoothing the trims because of that.

You should come drive my car out here since you're in LA too. You'll see a VAST difference with my KN instead of factory intake. Way less turbo lag, much more responsive. Exactly what an intake should do, and exactly what it did to my Gti as well. Intake is a must on FI

I havent seen any problems for my with my KN, it's been perfect. I'll keep you updated tho when I get a catless downpipe and muffler delete, if that will skew anything..

hmmmm..

if you actually do the math for airflow the factory intake isnt really that restricted. if you were airbox modded to a A.M. turbo it would most definately flow to an average range of mid 400 hp. for most people that is plenty hp and **** the more stock ur car looks the more confused the people wchecking your **** out will be haha

just putting that out there.....

To the OP, or anyone that did this, when you say start it three times, do you mean try to start it with out the clutch in? Or what

Bump, trying to figure this out

Disconnect the battery for ten mins, try n start(start without clutch in, or try and crank it but turn key off before it actually starts?) 3 times or disconnect the battery, try n start once, repeat three times the disconnecting and start process

?

Just because the OP's LONG TERM fuel trims average out to +/- 1 or so doesn't mean his STFT's are in line. Just sayin'.

It takes a lot of tuning with a turbulent intake like that. Just like my modified Dejon did, even with a flow straightener.

Glad it averages out for him though.

Can't really tell ya how the fuel trims are cuz I have no way of looking at them, but I can say I noticed a diff in response and a lil power.. I actually can hear the wheels break loose a little in second gear.. Could barely get that before.. I'm hoping the fuel trims are the same as the OPs

you're badly in need of a retune brotha! At 23psi second gear should be breaking loose just as bad as first does. Did you load the Trifecta tune yourself, or did you go through a dealer? Either way, if I were you I would seriously shoot a log over to Vince to get some things straightened out in your tune. It really seems like this airbox mod just made whatever was iffy in your tune to begin with sort of show it's ugly head a bit more..

I plan on ordering the K&N SRI within the next week or so, I will log both the S/L TFT's with my laptop and get back to you all on it. Will idle for a bit, do light start n stop driving, WOT onto a highway, then cruise. That should cover all the bases.

Not useful if you average it over the entire engine range. Needs to be graphed in a load vs rpm chart. One graph for LTFT and another for STFT. Much easier with histograms in HPT.
