My first mod will be a ZZP IC.

Just ordered it today. I know this is a meaningless thread, but I wanted to start knocking these Treadstone nut-swinging threads down a few notches. I dont' have to take off my crash bar to mount it, or use two extra clamping points either.

In this thread, I would also like to retract my earlier statements that the stock IC wasn't all that bad. As soon as we got a cold snap, it popped. I am currently sporting the "JB Weld IC." Didn't know they made one, didja?

That's definately a good choice. On your list, the next things should be CAI, DP and tune

The ZZP intercooler hangs a bit lower than the stock one tho, right? Thats pretty much the only thing that makes me want to shop around for a different brand's.

I say it in every other thread when someone says this. The only way your taking out the intercooler is if you take out the front facia first, and that's alot more money than the intercooler. You shouldn't be running over parking blocks in the first place the cobalt is small enough to fit in the space just fine without pulling to far forward. I have had zero issue with even coming close.

Well I've accidently parked to where the front fascia just barely clears things and also have managed to have to have had it scrape going up a steep hill that traffic wouldnt let me hit at an angle. Those are the only 2 situations where I'd have worried but they have both happened in the past 2-3 months of owning the car.

Just stating, thats why I'm curious about how much lower it is and why I've bothered to look around.

ZZP makes awesome products. However, I don't think that the IC will be one I'm purchasing because of my persceptions of how low it hangs. I hope that seeing one in person will change my mind because of the price and quality received. Until then.

I need tha toonnnnzzz!!!!

Edit: ya know, it kinda sucks that I have to give up my 5 yr/100K powertrain warranty just to replace a inferiorly designed OEM part with a quality metal part.

I would have gotten ZZP as well, but the clearance thing bothers me. I don't wanna accidentally clip it and all the sudden get heart palpitations as I slowly walk to the front of my car to investigate. I already was told by ZZP over emails that I'd have to be driving like 15mph or more to damage the Intercooler and the chances of me going that fast in a parking spot or up a steep hill are slim possible even next to none so yes it shouldn't be a huge concern, but at the same time, i didn't like how that looked.

That's why I choose Treadstone

its not just a parking lot that you will break a IC that low. Its where your car will dip or be uneven. Pot holes, uneven roads, drive ways, entrances, things like that. Ive already scraped the **** out of my front lip..if I had one that hung any lower I would of wrecked it already.

I will say the Treadstone one has no problems with hanging low. I basically got it for that reason BECAUSE I have a hide away license plate that needs that space under the ic. I don't like the crash bar thing and I need to start the iats thing... it looks like under boost, it cools just as efficient as stock maybe better but at cruising speeds and idle it heats up quicker?.

Because this will be my fifth one. My dealer was already bitching and moaning about the last two. They combed through my car looking for mods. They even tried to say I hit something because my first IC was cratered by a raccoon. I'm just tired of dealing with them. I want this resolved and this is the best way to do it.

I can see this being an issue if you're lowered, but I'm not. I've had this car for 2 years and I have no scrapes underneath my lip.

Nice buy man!
I dont comprehend the people that have major issues with the IC hanging just a tad lower than stock. I have the HAHN and it hangs pretty low and never have any issues, and Im on pedders which gives me a nice drop up front. If you have a good feel for your car then you shouldnt be having issues with parking. You should be able to guage the distance in front and just stop before you touch or scrape anything at all.

Aaaanyways, off topic kinda lol Awesome purchase OP. Plastic endtanks FTL.

I live in Colorado and the roads here are bad, there's so many dips and harsh angles every where I drive. There's huge dips in main intersections. Also on less populated roads and crossing major roads, there's usually a dip on both ends of the main road so if you're crossing at 40 MPH you're not gonna be happy especially with lowered cars. Pot holes galore here too.

Maybe where you're from but our roads suck, however a good driver here can avoid most if they're careful. Which a lot of us do. Still it's either way mistakes happen and I wouldn't want that risk.

Oh and my first scrap was done on stock springs. This should give you a clue of how bad things can be here. I did make the mistake of thinking I can go at it straight, but still.

Good points, see around here it is mainly flat most of the places.

Yeah our road budget is poop. I wish they would improve on it. I don't see road construction as often as we should. Holes in major streets will be there for months. There's a road here called Sheridan. Oh its the worse and its so busy. I avoid it every time I'm in that area.

Plus Colorado in the winter is 45-60 during the day and 5-15 overnight. That's at least 30 degree drop. That's rapid enough to cause all sorts of road problems. It sucks.

But we are one of the fittest states in America so chances are you're dating a fit girl. Well girls have a better chance since Colorado is a sausage state. We out number girls 3-1 or something like that. Denver is considered Menver

So yeah that's why ZZP was hard for me to get...
