I don't think it's related to tuning. Something mechanical for sure.

I have a buddy who got one of the first 04 STis in our County. He used to drive down the street from his house to the mall, maybe an 8 minute drive, never going past 4k RPM and hardly any boost. He would let his car idle in the mall parking lot for 5 mins. I used to tease him so bad. He was so paranoid.

(Sorry for the derail, just had to share. Haha.)

Yeah I usually have a rule of thumb...or daily driving every hour your on the road at operating tempature let it sit idling for a minute. So even if your on the road for less then an hour let it sit for a minute.

Don't think so. I know a couple people who have had the EFR on before me. Donkeyballs, Omiotek, Gmtech has one too. xxghostxx hasn't been on in a while since something happened to his piston rings he had one of the first DD EFR. There is another guy that got the EFR on before me too.

The bottom end is actually perfectly fine. He had issues with something in the head.

Sorry, just had to clear that one up..

(Sorry for the derail Fastgti)

I think with a water cooled turbo, thats not really needed (based on research and conversations I have had). Oil only, I could see for sure. I can't believe people still buy oil only turbos. Its kinda crazy IMO.

It never stopped running really, he just stopped driving it until he got it fixed. He hasn't really touched it yet last I checked with him about a month ago but he said he was planning on getting her back on the road sometime in the spring.

Hey man replacing the turbo is not that hard just time consuming I would replace the zfr with k04 myself if I were you you can do it with basic tools. Just trying to save you some money. Btw did you have any flutter problems? I just don't understand especially if you didn't beat it... I'm sure Borg warning can do something 7 months is unacceptable I know how you feel now I feel like I'm gambling with my 2000$ zfr!

Warner damn spell check!

With the small turbos I don't find it crucial but with the big ones I find it to be a insurance policy. What's it going to hurt? Sorry for the thread derail

Afiak he bought zaps prototypes turbo which is used and saw some abuse. Turbos are a maitence item and they don't last forever.

I hope so, I just want to make sure I still have everything from the k04. I beleive I have to get a new oil fitting cuase they had to drill this one bigger to make it fit the zfr AFAIK. I'm not too sure I need to go through the k04 box and hope I have everything. Or I have to order them ASAP. I'm hoping one of the ZZP guys will get back to me today or something and I'm gonna talk to my mechanic about doing the turbo swap tomorrow or soemthing if I have everything here.

Going to go through Borg Warner. It shouldn't be a problem to warranty it as it's literally only been in my car for 7 months.

They had to enlarge the fitting or the oil feed hole on the turbo itself?

Also, this turbo has been on your car for 7 mos but what about how long ZZP had it? What's the warranty time frame? (Just asking bc I'm curious nothing more)
