Need help for BOV
Honestly an atmospheric BOV is not as bad as all these people say. If anyone on here remembers vernon (boostking) he had an atmospheric BOV and logged it and it went rich for .01 seconds after shifting. thats right .01 seconds. But all these people that think BOV's are the devil will think what they want to think. Guarantee these people that talk bad about them have absolutly no proof of these, "horrible conditions" they speak of. I have a BOV on my car, have for 25,000 miles now and ZOMG it's still fine. And i am a worry wart when it comes to my car. I watch my interceptor gauges constantly.
the guy asked some questions about what he needs to run a atmospheric BOV. He didn't ask for anyones opinions on the matter. I don't get why people always have to hop in these threads and post dumb ****. Its HIS car. Leave it be. Answer his questions or gfto...simple

People hate this site because of to many high school girl problem threads, to many database errors, and a lack of mods to control people like you.

There is no "dumb ****" being posted, only things that are important to the performance and longevity of his vehicle.
Installing an atmosphere vented BOV on a car with a MAF system is STUPID and will cause issues whether you believe it or not. You can watch your wideband gauge all day, the issues aren't so much with the actual A/F as they are with the CALCUALTED A/F. The PCM measures a certain amount of incoming air (based on density, hence the term "Mass") and then that air never reaches the engine. So the wideband A/F reports a lean condition. The PCM in turn richens up the mixture, and begins to modify the fuel trims because it thinks it can't trust the MAF. It could even lead to a MAF diganostic code if you drive around venting measured air long enough. Eventually if will throw a "Range/Performance" code for the MAF. And these people will be the first to come on here bitching and calling this car a "POS" because it throws a code.
so i have had no codes, no misfires except at startup which has nothing to do with this, no knock retard, and have had it like this 25,000 miles. I understand you are on the bandwagon with the , "ZOMG it's not running right and going to blow up theory" but the FACT is it is working. Im sorry if you don't want to believe it but i have it this way and obviously you do not so i think i will take my word over yours
So we should just tell the guy that BOV's on these cars are fine?? After explaining that they cause the car to run improperly, he might have second thoughts about installing one. Thats the advantage of posting on a forum, other people inform you of things you might not otherwise know.

"BOV? no you don't need that. Just take off the intercooler piping and run it open. That way it's much louder. Also take off the exhaust manifold so your exhauts is louder " <--is what I was mostly talking about. Why is that nesscessary. Like I said, I'm all for the info you are putting out. I've learn things from this site and thats why I read post like this. That all I was getting

I've seen people do all kinds of things wrong that "still work". Things like running non-hub centric wheels spacers, not torquing critical bolts, installing clutches without replacing flywheels, ect. I could name a hundred things. The bottom line is it will catch up with you sooner or later, if you shouldn't be doing something a certain way there is always a reason.
To the OP, as others have said clearimage auto is selling a kit that has everything you need for an atmospheric BOV setup including a special tune by Vince from Trifecta to tune your car for it. If you do go with the BOV the tune is a must IMO.
Another person who has no clue how a MAF system works.
It doesn't matter how high you dyno or that you "think" you have no problems.
There is no way you can vent air to the atmosphere after its been measured and not skew your MAF and A/F readings. If you got into your PCM with a scan tool you would be able to see where the fuel trims are trying to compensate for the skewed MAF readings.
Its not proper, thats the bottom line.

Yea, ok, my MAF and my A/F may be skewed a little bit, but who's car ******* isn't??? Are you serious? Anybody with an intake is skewing their MAF & A/F. Anybody with a damn K&N Drop-In Air Filter is skewing their MAF. How about you get onto their ass and tell then they don't know how a MAF system works.
I guess I have no clue how a MAF system works. :shrugs: But I just don't give a ****. Any that's fine with me. I will run my car how I want to, and I will be blowing past you, and blowing off right in your ******* window! as totally right as you are, ignorance is such bliss for BOV fanboys.. lol
atmoshperic BOV definitely sound cool no doubt, but folks need to really understand what is actually happening when they do this. Even the CIA MAF relocation setup with trifecta's special tune specially designed for this mod, the success rate is at best 50%. This is coming straight from trifecta. ****, even Dan from CIA recommends NOT doing this and it's his own product. You can't change most people's minds though.

And I don't give a Flying **** what Trfecta says. Or even Dan for that matter.
They are trying to sell a pipe (MAF Relocation) with as they said doesn't do jack ****. Taking people's money when they know damn well, it doesn't do ****. Whatever, it's their own money. Eh...I thought they sounded cool at one point...then during my DSM days we rigged up my Laser with one...after a while I actually hated shifting just because of that retarded noise...BOVs are for SRT4s and those annoying kids with those VW 1.8t engines that think a loud BOV adds 7000hp revving at me like they are fast.
Oh, and I think that I am pretty fast. At least to me it seems fast. Whatever, I'm annoying.

I'm a ricer, and I'm fine with that.
Thank-you SlowBalt. A man with ******* facts.

Do what you want. Some things are just plain wrong, and running a BOV/MAF is one of them.

^^^ wow, taking this a little personally are we?
When you start logging your car, then come in with some facts. Until then, you have none, other than the fact that your car goes ::sswwooosshhh:: when you shift.
Seriously, there is no battle needed here. You like your BOV.. Fine.. Us that realize the disadvantages/down sides of running a atmospheric BOV on these cars with the stock turbo are only trying to spread knowledge, not ignorance.
Man, ignorance really is bliss apparently

ppl need to get a grip honestly, I got a BOV and **** sounds nice, no problems, nothing, runs exactly the same as with stock Bypass. Just make sure you get a delete plate so it gets rid of a check engine light code # p2261 and ur all set.
I know I don't have any ******* problems. My car still runs fune.

You think that just because your BOV "sounds cool" and you car still runs, then everyone is wrong by telling you its not proper. You have a lot to learn.
And that's your opinion jackass. I have mine.
Its people like you that give CSS drivers a bad name, you are a typical know-nothing punk kid. And that's too bad, because you could have learned something. Instead, you're just mouthing off and basking in your own pathetic ignorance.
As if I really care about you blowing past me with your stupid blow off valve

Jackass?? You are the one who doesn't even understand how electronic engine controls work, and you're calling other people names. You try and help someone, and they act like a child.

I don't know everything about cars, or electronics, or whatever. All's I know is that my car SEEMS to be fine. And until I hear some real facts, pictures, videos, etc, then that will be opinion. I am willing to learn, please teach me. And I have been around long enough, and brought in countless numbers of new members to the site, I tend to think that I don't give CSS drivers a bad name.
So now please, enlighten me. Show me pictures/videos and explain why a BOV VTA is such a bad idea.
