Negative Boost at idle

OK,so normally when my car is idling after I first start her up the scan gauge reads -21.6psi or around there.
Recently in the past few days its been sitting at -17.9psi. Theres been no weather change.

Any idea whats going on here ?

do you have your defrosters on by any chance? The defrosters kick the A/C compressor on which will cause you to lose a little bit of vacuum due to the slight load running the compressor puts on the engine. A/C running at idle generally registers about 17inHG. (that's inches of mercury and not so much a negative psi btw)

you may not think that there's been any "change in the weather", but even slight changes in humidity, barometric pressure, and temperature, can cause your car to make adjustments.

technically there is no such this as negative boost, or negative pressure.

Atmospheric pressure is just about 15psi @sealevel.

Ok we got the joke about the negative boost f'in idiots, stop rubbing it in, like half of you douches are experts anyway. You never see any of these experienced tuners on her laughing at your nonsense. It's his first turbo car, he doesn't know.

Take the car to kevin for the tuning issues you are experiencing. He is good. He had worked on all kinds of problem cars and solved them.

Trust me, take the plunge. I'll be going to see him come april. You could join.

Cheers.

yeah thats true the weather does affect your boost outputs, the car trues to compensate for the difference

I really thought this thread was a joke at first and people started actually responding to it... Alot of people do not realize the car is in vacuum when in idle its ok. My friend whos had a turbo car for over a year finally got a boost guage. When it lit up he was extremely concerned that something was wrong since it was his first time seeing vaccum and boost on an anolog in his car. kinda funny how hard he over reacted. lol.

Wow really? Tuning issues? Don't listen to this guy hear he obvioulsy doesn't know what the hell he's talking about... Your car is fine and has no problem. It is normal for your car to do this at Idle so no need to take it to the almighty KEVIN

Anyone who traps a measly 104 with a tune should probably keep their mouth shut

He has had a history of tuning problems with his car that he is going to get fixed, look at his previous posts

The AC compressor can affect vacuum, I agree, but other things can affect it as well.

ROFL. I trap 104 stock. Nobody traps 104 with a tune. They trap 108 or higher at least.

How was Raven being usefull? By telling you a lie? Saying your having tunning issues when your NOT? You both don't need to be near 10ft of any car IMO.
