that loud sound you typicly hear from bovs is all of that air escaping. you can have that excess air re-routed back into the turbo thus giving you a quicker spool when you shift

has anyone else used the stock bypass valve spring you can get from Dejon I have it it sounds great and its only like $15 shipped if you guys just want the sound that is what you should get save lots of money over a whole new BOV

My tial qr will be here soon enough. Just shipped today, I'll post up some pics of the install, seems that's all this thread is missing. I plan on turbo/header upgrade at some point this is just one of those things to get it done and out of the way now rather than later.

idk if anyone has said this or not yet but the car peaks around 18psi at full boost when its hot out and around 15 normally... a BOV will make it alot louder but your throwing away your no lift shift and if u make the BOV atmospheric u need to relocate the maf between the BOV and the intake or the car will always run rich unless tuned for... so if ur not racing ur car and want it to sound mean then BOV but the stock BPV is pretty loud with intake and exhaust! and it still works properly with the car.
Thats all ridiculous you technically dont need a BOV or BPV all that does is help prevent compressor surge and relieve pressure on your throttle plate when it closes so u have better throttle response. It not a BOV at all on the stock setup its technically a hybrid diverter valve/Recirculating valve. it doesnt let anything to atmosphere so its not "blowing off". it takes the air the would blow off and recirculates/diverts it back into the intake stream because that is already metered air(MAF sensor)

i am about to install the GMS1 on my car and have a turbo XS intake and intercooler piping on the way. I also have a Turbo XS RFL BOV sitting on my dresser and planning to put it on my cobalt. im just curious if it would make more sense to put it on the cold side of the piping, because its on the cold side on my Ranger?

Its typically a good idea to put it on the cold side no closer then 11inches from the throttle body. Reason being the air doesn't have to change directions to escape from the charge pipe. I dunno if there's enough room on the lower pipe for it to work, otherwise the typical spot on the top charge pipe still works.

No, still causes drivability issues. It's not a learn down thing that's stopping it, it's that when you use a vent to atmosphere blow off valve, you are changing the amount of metered air in the system. The the MAF sensor measures how much air is moving through the system. when you change the recirculation system that the stock BPV uses, you are changing how much air is moving through the system without the car knowing. It can cause you to spike rich every time you let off the throttle, or whenever that bov blows off.

I'm running a turbo xs rfl on a stock turbo and re-routed hoses from the MAP to the BPV to the BOV and have no issues with it and it's not tuned for it yet. Even though it serves no purpose to have it on there. Only other mods are Dejon charge pipes and intake plus there are no DTC nor boost leaks.

Changed from a recirc stock system on my 335 to a charge pipe and Tial blow off. Sounded great. Not too loud and you actually saw something when you popped the hood.
Not sure how these turbos with the built in blow off work.
