NEW MEMBER of the f'd up rear brake club! UPDATED

FYI car has 10,6XX miles
this morning, left my house, going up my small hill on my street, and it felt like someone ripped the ****** e-brake and heard a horrible grinding sound.
turned around and got another car for the day at school.
as of now its at the dealer, awaiting to be looked at i suppose cuz i didnt get a call today about it.

just wondering though, who was forced to buy pads? and whos was under warranty?
cuz i feel it ALL should be under warranty. and is it replaced with the same pads? or different ones so i dont have to worry about it?

i couldnt find all the answers to my questions so sorry if this pisses anyone off.
thanks!

update

talked to them this morning (Oct 8th) and they said they tested it and the sensor for the stability control was "bad" they said that i should get the car back by tomorrow cuz they didnt have one on hand. they say the sensor is under the drivers seat and will take a few hours.
we'll see what happens!

Some dealerships warranty it and some do not. One guy on here paid to have the rotors turned and his dealership took care of the rest. My dealership laughed at me. It's all a toss-up, but you are under 12K, so if you bitch loudly enough, you should get it done for free.

Rear rotors were about 100 and pads were about 50. I know how to change them now.

i took the shitty stock pads off, they had big pieces of metal embedded in the pad which was grinding away at the rotor?

had the rotor turned for 10 bucks a piece and stuck some hawks on and called it a day

pads and rotors are wearing just fine now

damn you dont drive much well you are out of brake warranty so you may end up having to pay out of pocket to fix. yes it sucks and they shouldnt wear this fast but you are out of GM's given brake warranty. This may be a good time to upgrade brakes? specially if you are looking to race/track/autox etc.

even if gm would fix it, i would have still gone with new pads, as they would prob have stick the same junker stock ones back on and had the same prob again in 5k miles

I just picked my car up today. I has 17,050 or so miles as it sits, and i've owned it for 14 months. They turned my rotors, and replaced the pads and did it all under warranty without saying a word.

sensor breaking > engine breaking

well the sensor will be under warranty for sure. If you get the brakes under warranty too you got lucky
