No fuel filter?

The other day I went to the dealership to buy a new air filter and fuel filter since I have 25,000 miles on my TC.

I was surpirsed, they had to order my air filter because the the LNF's have a re-enforced structure so it will not distort under suction. Kinda interesting as the filter you will buy from the the autoparts will the same 2.0 or 2.2.

Then I was surprised again a there is no listing for a fuel filter.

All cars have a fuel filter, just not all of them are servicable. its probably part of the pump.

its not a microfilter, its got just the sock type on the end of the fuel pump. not really great for small contaminants

I don't want a K&N at the moment. K&N flows more air meaning more dirt. Its an air FILTER. If you put a K&N up to the light you can see through it.

Will your K&N cause your engine to fail? No but after 100,000 miles I would think the cylinder walls would be more pristine if the engine had a more restrictive, paper filter.

Agreed. You can see this sometimes on the throttle after some miles it will be covered in oil from the filter and dirt that has passed through the filter.

IDK about that aftermarket one, if that gets clogged, it could cause damage to the Injection pump.

I didn't read much about it but If I added a fuel filter I would make sure to be able to use a production fuel filter so it would be easy to buy replacments.

Kinda like people doing disc brake upgrades. In 5 years you need rotors and pads... Its alot easier going to Autozone to ask for pads and rotors for 2000 corvette than ordering parts, hoping they are still around and instock. ( I know it doesn't work on a cobalt but many people use corvettes brakes on camaros, chevelles, novas, etc)
