I think its the bypass valve. Mine makes a kind of bird sound sometimes. Like BWAAK !!! It did it more with the stock shifter when it wouldnt go from 1st to 2nd. It sounds like a cross between a Cluck and a Quack.

If its a proper NLS .....Shouldn't the bypass stay closed ? I'm guessing belt squeal ..... try some belt dressing and see if it goes away .

Wow! I found the corner of CSS where all the idiots hang out.

Seriously, keep NLS'ing 1-2, please. Tell me what noise it makes soon. Also, keep NLS'ing 4-5, tell me what sound you hear behind your car after a while.

For the record, if its a proper NLS, the throttle blade does not close, thus not making vacuum to open the BPV, so there goes that 'idea'. NLS'ing 1-2, that BWAAAAK noise you claim you hear is your ******* tires, duh. Any other time, its the belt. NOTHING else could squeak... use some common sense and rule out some possibilities. Metal on metal does not squeak, thus negating any idea concerning the trans. Rubber on metal squeaks, thus pointing to the belt squeaking. Plus, when its already been said 10 times that its a common occurrence, I would not guess at it being something major, thus belt slip.

/thread.

Wow you must have found where the idiots hang out, explains why your here. Also I will keep NLS'ing from 4-5 as I have ton of empty roads where im located to enjoy the speed of my car. If I didnt want to go fast I wouldnt have purchased a turbocharged car. Lets use some common sense which you seem to be lacking and tell me metal to metal doesnt squeak. Its arrogant fools like yourself that turn a simple question about a car into something stupid to make yourself feel more educated. All I wanted to know is if anyone else has experienced the problem and if any, a possible fix.

It is the serpentine, check jbody forums, ecotecs are notorious for it. Mine did it from the factory with less than 500 miles on it, started only when using the A/C, now it does it all the time durring hard shifting. The tensioner isnt tight enough to keep it from slipping but it isnt loose enough to worry about it.

if it sounds similar to a blow off, coming from under the car, seeming to be just below the shifter, its normal, thats how it sounds.
