Hmm.......someone will chime in. Never had this issue so can't really help you there. Although this may be a perfect opportunity to upgrade to a forge unit!!!

Sounds like the bpv is getting stuck. Take it apart, clean, and grease it up and see if that fixes it.

I'm guessing it's that because when i was getting my BYT tune last weekend there was another kid there and his ss was making that exact noise. Nick said his bpv was getting stuck. Granted he had the forge bpv, but it could be the same issue.

Your BPV is sticking, leaking or torn. That is turbo flutter. Dont drive it, you risk killing the turbo if you start to really boost. Get a new one. Time to upgrade to the Forge BPV!!!

Wow, that is a lot. My Forge does this some, but it's a signal that it needs to be cleaned and lubed. The stock one doesn't need either of those, so it's likely torn, or you have a bad vacuum source.

Mine was doing the exact same thing and it wasn't torn or anything. Anyways, I upgraded to the forge bpv but that didn't fix it either. You get the issue right from start up on shifts and it doesn't go away until next time you drive it or a couple drives later right?

I did the vacuum tank delete and I haven't had the issue happen since. Been running solid for about 6 months now with no issue. Give that a shot.

well just checked it out, the vacuum line from mani to the bpv was off on the bpv side, replaced the squeeze clamp with a worm clamp

This reminds me. I need to check my vacuum tank. I think the check valve is bad, or the tank is leaking

I may just bypass it, since I'm going to a stronger clutch, which might end up killing my ability to NLS safely anyways.

Apparently I stand corrected on this...No problems for a few months after doing vacuum tank delete and it just came back with a vengeance last 2 days. Anybody figure out a way to fix this yet? It's annoying as hell.

Yeah, this is exactly what happened to me a few days ago. I posted a thread about it but hardly anyone responded.

Mine started very suddenly on my drive to work (5 minute drive). Then after work, 1 minute worth of driving and it went away. Very strange. I want to to get the Forge bpv to see if that does anything. I've also had GMS1 issues and people claim the forge is very helpful in getting rid of those issues.

On another note, what on earth is a vacuum tank delete and how do you do it?

BPV is usually the cause in some cases. Like this thread explained, it's sticking causing flutter.

The vaccuum tank delete is pretty simple but has very mixed reviews/results.

My understanding of it (not having done it myself) is:

There is a vaccuum tank under the intake manifold that is there for the bpv. There are two vacuum lines, one that goes from the solenoid and the other to the bpv. People either remove the tank and run just one line from the solenoid to the valve or they cut the vaccuum lines and then run a single line, leaving the tank attached.

I know this exact noise. Mine was coming from mis wiring/ plug on GMS1 map sensor. Car goes into limp mode and sounds like that.

Mine started doing that but my bypass valve solenoid was the problem. I didn't do the delete when I saw this on a bulletin.

Note: Front wheel drive platforms using the 2.0 Liter RPO (LNF) incorporate a charge air bypass valve supplemental vacuum tank. The purpose of the tank is to provide an instant source of vacuum to the bypass valve via the bypass solenoid (when it is commanded open by the ECM). This results in less pressure buildup under closed throttle conditions, thereby reducing compressor noise, surge and spool time.

Mine hasn't done it in a while. I'm going to get a forge bpv at some point and see if that solves it completely. The solenoid sounds like a more annoying problem.

yea if it goes away when you cycle the key than it seems like a electrical issue with the solenoid

Some more updates. I've found it always happens on the drive following a really short drive (less than 5 minutes). From there it will surge for at least the next drive sometimes a few. But once it's gone, it never comes back until I do a short drive again. Also seems to happen less when it's cold (less than 0C).

I fixed this issue finally. check your gms1 connections and re-crimp if you have to. It's a loose connection somewhere.

I just went through this with my car. Check the vacuum canister under the intake manifold and make sure no hose is broken off. That's what happened to mine.
