not boosting all the way, and feels and sounds weird. help?

ok guys, so the other day i was leaving a friends house and was pulling out and saw a car coming and i was allready like in the road so i eased out more and all of a sudden BOOM the whole front end of my car hit the ground, so im like what the ****, it was dark so i gave a quick look and nothing major happend that i could see, just some scraping.

i left the house went down the road and hit full boost to make sure everything was ok, and i didnt notice anything different. NOW the next day im not boosting 20 im only boosting 11-15 and it sounds weird like i may have a boost leak, im not 100 percent sure on that. and also when i get on it its really jerky. like it losing power then gaining it back again. and idk what it could be.

i only have a intake, downpipe, Forge BPV and a 20-22 psi trifecta tune.

may i have cracked the intercoller? i inspected the intercooler and i saw some rubbing on the plasitc of it and the little bar that runs on the bottom of it came loose. ill get pictures asap.
anyone have any ideas what it could be?! may it just be i need to grease my BPV? erg idk lol

thanks in advance all!

Haha yeah dude thats it. Ive read somewhere that if you take that thing off and fill the holes with jb weld its better or something like that. I personally would just order a aftermarket Ic and never have to deal with the stock ic again.

Go with one of the new replacement ones that either Treadstone or ZZP came out with. They're not that much and is basically just an upgrade from the plastic end tanks. I really don't remember where I read that but im sure if you search a thread about a stock broken ic you'll find someone saying something about it.

if im correct the intercoolers that will fit are the TR12 and TR8 and TR8L.

im going TR8/TR8L because its a little cheaper lol but does anyone know the different between the TR8 and TR8L? they are the same price.
and also i still have stock charge piping, this will work right?

TR8 Intercooler- TREADSTONE PERFORMANCE

EDIT the TR8L is for a lower boost with higher flow, so id assume the TR8 is what i want...

Yes as the other guy said air flows through the metal condensation tray so if it's hanging you have a boost leak from there. If you drive it you will eventually get a cel because it is a air leak after maf sensor before intake manifold. You may or may not have a crack in the plastic end tank also does not take much of a hit. As the other guy said you may be able to I think guys use jb weld on the condensation tray hole to patch them until you get you're new intercooler if you have no other leaks/cracks from the end tanks.

You can check if you have a boost leak by spraying your intercooler piping and intercooler with carb cleaner, if the RPMs mysteriously go up when you spray a particular spot there's a leak there.

I'm voting you busted the condensation tray. You want the TR8, I believe it actually sits higher than the stock intercooler as well. Treadstone is running a sale I think on the kit.

So my car threw a code today. P0101. Something about the mass air flow sensor efficiency. Could this still be the intercooler? I really don't want to replace it and that's not the problem. If anyone could chime in that would be awesome!

The code you threw is definately a boost leak. The condensation bar you said was "Fuked up!" is the culprit.

Take the condensation bar off and fill with JB weld for a quick fix till you get a new IC. Treadstone has a groupbuy going on right now for a TR8 Intercooler with all the necessary clamps and hardware. I made a DIY install thread you could follow if you want to install it yourself.

The TR8 groupbuy is $250. Not a bad deal for a better than stock IC. TR8 is a 600 cubic inch intercooler. The stock IC is 542.5 cubic inches. TR8 will match up to stock charge piping. I did a IAT temp comparison between stock IC and TR8 and saw nothing negative about the TR8. Of course I didnt floor it and do multiple pulls to really try and heat soak either.... but it is very functional and Im pretty happy with it.

ZZP is also making a stock replacement IC. Its under developement now. If you wanna get in on the treadstone group buy, act fast, the link to purchasing is up.

I tried a search and didnt come up with anything. I think its pretty straight forward. You fill the mount holes with JB weld. I think the bar is mounted on one side with a bolt while its held in place with a clip on the other side? Thats a guess. Search TRE TR8 DIY install to see my install thread. YOu can use that to take the bumper off if necessary to see if your endtanks are cracked.

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/2-0l...cooler-245952/

Found this thread where someone had the same issue.
If you type intercooler into the Search this forum menu on the top right, you will see a whole slew of issues the stock IC has had. There's alot of people that have knocked off the condensation bar (water trap bar) and also blew the stock IC under stock and tuned boost levels.

yeah that sounds about right. Patch the one visible mount hole. As long as there isnt any other cracks then you should be ok temporarily.
