Question odd interior Question

So,

anyone notice how the rear our view mirrors are about the size of a bus? it "really" impedes my vision when driving down the road... (I'm a taller dude)... has anyone changed out their rearview with something different before? and since its an Onstar... anyone think or know of something that would mate up with the plug? just be alittle smaller... Vision saftey is paramount in these cars... any ideas would greatly be appreciated.

Not a performance question...

that aside, im confused, are you saying that you want more vision, or less vision out of the rear view?? And i think our rear views are quite adequate...why would you want less?

yeah.. I know.. wasn't sure where else to put this... what I was saying is that.. its not the view into the rear window thats the issue.. its the amount of blockage Im getting from trying to see whats going on out in front of me... the rear view mirrow blocks a fairly significant amount of space which when driving in a straight line.. seems to block out the area from about 1 to 2 oclock... so say there is a car approaching from a side street to my diagonal right... and say maybe 500 ft or so ahead.. I can even see what that car is doing unless I duck my head... its just a pain in the butt sometimes... and kinda makes me feel a bit un nerved if I am driving faster.. or say on a winding road... all the forward vision is needed... so I am trying to figure out a way to make the rear view a bit smaller without sacrificing seeing what's going on behind me too much either.. like a G5 rear view is smaller than a Cobalts I believe... something like that...

How tall are you ? Your head would have to touch the roof to have the rearview block that much lol.

you are posting in the LNF section, so im going to assume you have one, is this another case of some one not knowing that the seat can be lowered significantly im 6'1'' and since day one have had the seat at its lowest setting. Compared to the passenger seat ( which i just sat in for the first time last week ) it is alot lower, i could see how driving with the seat all the way up to the same hight as the passenger visibility would suck my roommate has an ls cobalt, and i dont think her seat goes up and down, only been in it once, sooo its a stretch but maybe this is in the right section?

I was going to ask about that but figured everyone knows about the height adjuster hehe .... maybe not thou. If he's that tall the only other thing he could do is lean back further with the recline or stick his head out the sunroof hehe.

My car doesn't have a sunroof and i swear it has a higher ceiling than the sunroof cars ive ridden in.

Most of the 05-12 Onstar rear view mirrors from all of the makes will fit, (Caddy/ Chevy/ Buick/ GMC/ Pontiac) as for the mirror size, I know many of them are all of the same size. Some older 98-05 GM makes/models had smaller form mirrors - which ones I don't remember, some had Onstar some didn't. Many GM makes used standard mirror size to keep cost down, but found out there was two standard mirror sizes.

The really cool mirrors come from Caddy w/ Rear view backup camera screen/ Onstar/ Bluetooth/ Temp..

Edit: found out before 90's all mirrors are all the same size, during the mid 90's & 2k's most makes made two standard mirror sizes because of added features on the mirror itself.. (Auto dim/ Video screen/ Onstar/ GPS/ Temp window).

i thought all the mirrors are the same, nope - GM kept cost down by using the same mirror size after 05, the bezel/frame around the mirror is what makes them larger or smaller..

haha.. ok a few things.. thanks for everyone's post.. yes I have an LNF... Thanks to Gone in 10 sec's reply.. I was doing some searching for that info, you shortened my search.

as far as those of you who thought I might not know about the adjustable seat... "really?" hahaha .. yeah I've got it adjusted and still having an issue .. I could lean the seat back.. but as you all know the stearing wheel doesnt pull out.. just up and down.. soooo... I think I'm just gonna have to stop complaining about it, and just work with it....

are all of you who own cobalts under 6'0'' tall?? hahaha

thanks again everyone, sorry about the NON performance question... just didnt know where else to put it.
