the RWD may be different, with fuel filter location and all. it says that the sky/solstice has a filter in the tank. now I know the sc cobalts and my redline have a fuel filter attached to the body frame or whatever, and so I would think the new lnf cobalts have one in the same place which would make me think the whole solving the in tank crappy fuel filter problem is already solved.

finally found another thread with this info in it.

Apparently we have a non-servicable filter in the tank, but not anywhere else.

I would think the DDM kit would work, but i really don't know **** about our cars.

might need different angles on the fitting and lines though.

ALL Cobalts and Ions have a serviceable fuel filter mounted behind the fuel tank to the right of the EVAP canister. This filter includes an internal pressure regulator. There are two lines with plastic quick connects going in and one metal line coming out. The filter can be separated from the metal line using any 5/16" fuel line disconnect tool.

There's also the fuel pump sock mounted to the bottom of the fuel pump module within the tank to trap the larger particles.

and our filter I should HOPE is filtering better than 40 microns in the case of the advertisement you posted, that's actually frakking dismal at best and not worth over 100USD.

Mine must be invisible then. The fuel filter on our two previous Cobalts was located exactly where you describe. My SS turbo does not have one.

Huh... I swore I saw one under my 2010 last time I changed the oil.

I'll look when I rotate the tires again. I'm pretty sure that all Cobalts have the external filter. The allowed space for the fuel pump isn't really enough to house an in-tank filter.

Well everything I can find says we don't. I have not looked. I changed one on my LS but not my ss turbo

Well, I rotated my tires today and took a look while I had it up in the air.

I stand corrected. LNF = no fuel filter... for some stupid ass reason. Oh well. The high pressure side of the fuel system is covered by powertrain so I could care less if it blows up. 93,000 miles and counting.

That's a negative. As per GM service information, the only kind of fuel filter the LNF has is the pickup sock on the bottom of the fuel pump module. And it isn't serviceable.

California emissions cars with the 2.2/2.4 have a filter in the tank. Federal emissions vehicles with the same engines have a filter external to the tank.

As you found the filter is not in that spot on the TC. Also, on the 2.4, 2.2, and 2.0 SC, the regulator is not in the fitler. The filter is simply utilized as a T to route fuel back to the canister where the regulator is located.
