Opinion's on a DownPipe!

hey all i saw the thred on the down pipes but im just curios on who prefers what.

so my question is what DP in your opinion is the best?
i want to keep my CEL off.
so i would assume i need a catted DP. any catted DP's better then others?

If you insist on getting a catted pipe, look into ZZP's pipes with the spun metal cats.. Heard good things.

I have a ZZP catless myself.

Just make sure you get one with an o2 bung, can cause lots of problems without it plugged in.

I'm running the badmab catless dp and a vibrant 02 defouler. No CELs after about 800 miles so far.

it's a little 90* bent piece of pipe that comes off the 02 bung. Looks like this

I picked mine up from modern performance.

that screws into the bung and then the O2 sensor screws in that?
this will keep your CEL coming on with a catless DP?

Or you could just buy a Hahn O/R downpipe and not have to buy a defouler like me

i have zzp's cat-less downpipe w o2 bung. i was also dreading a cel but never got one, i have almost 1000 miles on it and it is running fine no cel and sounds great! make sure you disconnect the battery before you instal it, and be gentle with the o2 sensor

you dont have a defouler or anything? and no CEL?

and this is probably a stupid question but why unhook the battery?

yea somebody correct me if im wrong but thats what the o2 bung is

disconnecting the batterie will pretty much stop the car from sensing that their is a diff part on the car, in my terms haha i have just always been told to disconect the battery before any performance part is added

yep never had a cel once. as for innspections.. i work at a carwash thats teamed up with a jiffy lube, so i kinda have a hook up.. i hope. their dumb anyways and prob wouldnt even check haha

Depends what you are doing. I'd say if you're working with any kind of sensor or anything that might have power running through it, it's a good idea to disconnect the battery just to avoid damage to the part or yourself.

There have been mixed results about still getting cels. It really seems to be hit or miss. Mine doesn't have a defouler so the CEL kicked on within like 30 miles of driving. But I do my own tuning so it was no problem to just turn it off.

I know there was a problem with the MPx catted downpipes kicking cel's on, so they just sent out defoulers to everyone with a problem.

the defouler screws into the bung and make the O2 sensor farther away from the gases and stuff.

im from NY to you think i could meet you at this jiffy lube and hook me up haha

and okay ill just unhook the battery to be safe lol

and disconnecting the battery doesn't do anything, but prevent you from getting shocked

either way it's your o2 sensor that is going to throw the code and catless or with cat there is still a good chance that you WILL throw a code. Some people get lucky, some people got tuned and the tuner automatically disables the code so he doesn't have to come back.

yes.

a tune disableing the emissions code only prevents them from seeing it diagnostically. when they actually test your emmissions it will be way out..
