P0520

Ok so since I'm tuned I datalog and look at stuff on my HP software alot. There pretty much isn't a day I start my car where I don't hook up the laptop so I can log and keep an eye on any codes and stuff. So I noticed that I threw a weird code, P0520. It only happens on cold starts and not every time. It never throws the DTC light in the gauge cluster. And whenever it comes on it is a "immature" and "old" code. I know it is the Engine Oil Pressure Sensor/Switch Circuit Malfunction. But I'm confused since it only happens while cold. I let the whole thing warm up to at least 160*F before I ever move my car. I clear it and it never comes back on til my next cold start. If it is serious wouldn't it turn on the DTC light or return after cleared? I am stumped so I figured I would run it buy you guys and see if anyone else has the same issue.

MODS: treadstone stage 3 and TF/HP tuned. I'll take it to the dealership next week when the service department is open if its serious. They will blacklist my vin but it should still be covered under warranty so I'm not too concerned. Anyways, any help is appreciated, thanks.

Could be oil pressure sensor itself.
The *History* code will dissappear after 40 engine start cycles that are code free.

DTC P0520

Conditions for Clearing the DTC
• The DTC becomes history when the conditions for setting the DTC are no longer present.• The history DTC clears after 40 malfunction-free warm-up cycles.• The ECM/PCM receives a clear code command from the scan tool.

Yea its just weird because I'm getting no engine lights. If I didn't have my hp tuners software hooked up i would have never known. I just clear it and it doesn't come back. Even if I start the car, clear it and turn it off then on again it wont come back. Its just weird.

I think the code has to happen a certain number of times in a certain timeframe before it will actually throw a light.

Ok so me clearing it isn't helping... great. Well I'll leave it and head over to the dealership next week or something.

Like it says..if it's now in *history*, it will clear itself after 40 trouble free restart cycles. That means from a COLD start. May want to wait it out for a coupe weeks.
