Palmer XLscan + Trifecta cable dataloging

Hey all ..... Is anyone using palmer XLscan and their trifecta cable to datalog with? I've been using it a bit and it's a really solid program . It's like having HP tuner datalogs without the tuning ability .

The only issue I have is it will show a spike in the data log every once in a while across all pid's . Cant figure out if it's a hardware or software issue and was wondering if anyone else has seen it .

I have the tactrix 2.0 box with scanXL 3.2.... thx.

I wish I would have went the HPT route .

But since i have a trifecta cable .... it's the only option I have right now . I'm surprised that with all the people that have trifecta cables ..... no one is using this . I know someone said Vince is working on some software that will allow end users to datalog and tweak but I haven't heard anything about it in months.

I would do this for sure except I don't have the Tactrix cable (mine is the black box)

I also have the XLscan, I just recently purchased it before winter so I haven't really played with it. Yesterday is the first i drove my car in like two months. I agree that the program is really nice to data log with from what I have done with it .

Have you played around with making your own screens??? I old school looking screens are pretty straight forward but i had no clue where to start with enhanced looking screens.

It should still work with that ..... It wasn't written for the tactrix cable or anything like that . I'm pretty sure your cable will work .

BUMP

For those of you guys using ScanXL how are you viewing you logs?

I try to open a log but it can only open ".lgf" files and the datalog files I get from my Trifecta Black Box are ".tdl" files. Any advice?

rukkee since you have a Trifecta Tactrix box what extension are your datalog files in?

I use an Innovate LM-2. Records to SD card, records up to like 100 channels from OBD-II or I can hook up my O2 "sniffer" to the exhaust tip to see AFR (if the car doesn't have info through OBD, like the LSJ). Then I take the SD card and open the data log in Logworks, which displays the channels as gauges.

I didn't know you could use the cable for anything else. This is news to me. Is there any other software I could use. What does this software do for me besides datalog. I'm actually interested in something that'll do what the dashdaq will do

Eh...I used to have it. You can see the route I'm headed now

As much as I liked doing the tuning myself...it just got old begging and pleading with HPT to give us some updates and more tables for the LNF. You realize pretty quickly that, unless you have a V8, HPT doesn't really give 2 ***** about you.

Trifecta seems to be the only company that is interested in advancing the tuning capabilities of this motor instead of just getting out some very basic power making tables and being done with it. I may buy HPT again just to get a bit more agressive and have a combo tune...but we'll see what I make at the dyno this spring and see if I'm satisfied to the fullest

Yeah .... HPT kinda left it's LNF customers out to dry , I wouldn't be happy with that after spending 600 bucks.

Trifecta is great for the people that don't like to tinker . I remember hearing about some standalone software Vince was working on .....and that would be ideal seeing as he is the only one that has access to some of the tables. I'm no tuner , but i would like to be able to atleast datalog and change some of the simple stuff .

With HPT...that's pretty much all you could do with the LNF. LNF's are actually really easy to tune with HPT given the amount of stuff you can change. Sure, it was fun, but the limits to HPT's capabilities show up pretty quickly. There's like a total of 5-6 tables you really need to worry about. I mean there's certain tables that they added...but weren't really of much use...like the Cam Phasing tables for example. I'm not ******* HPT, I did like the satisfaction of saying "I did that"...but I just wish the LNF got the attention that LSx motors get.
