Palmer XLscan + Trifecta cable dataloging
Unfortunately ScanXL isn't compatible with the "black box", although I'd like to fix that. What is more likely to come from us, first, is a plug-in for ScanXL that allows the viewing of the TDL files created by EZ Flash.
Out of curiosity what software do you use to review logs of people with the "black box" Trifecta cable?

Well I got the PCMScan because the ScanXL was up there in price, I don't even know how to begin using this software.
Reading the help now. Hopefully it's cool haha

I've been using scanxl for a couple of years now. It's great software for a reasonable price, but it definitely has its limitations. For anyone using the software, I would absolutely purchace the full GM license if I were you to really make the best of the software. You can use the SAE and Generic PIDS of course but they are very limiting and not nearly as in depth when you get into the nitty gritty of really troubleshooting any issues, or even just logging in general. My biggest gripe with scanxl personally is the refresh rate, but it's dealable. I have a couple of good LNF configs I'd be willing to share if anyone using pcmscan or scanxl would be interested.

well pmscan doesn't work right so I wont be buying it. I went to the forums and they recommended I use scanXL. I used it and the demo works fine, but not sure if its worth $250ish with GM License. Wonder if it'll be better to just buy aeroforce gauge and replace my stocker? Or find a Dashhawk somewhere? Or just save and get both aeroforce gauges and pods $480ish.
Not sure what's the best route yet.

you can't even compare Scanxl to a dashhawk.. they're not even in the same league to be honest. Is it as good as HPT? Honestly no, but it's also 1/3 the price of HPT and Scanxl is by far a MUCH more powerful of a tool than a dashhawk or any of the guage type loggers. In the end it's what works best for you, but for my money Scanxl was by far the better route for only $250 with the GM license

A dashhawk is great for looking at the important stuff..... knock , misfires . Iat's ect....ect. Most people who have scanXL aren't going to use a quarter of the pid's scanxl has.
this is true, but neither are the folks who are spending $600+ on purchasing HPT. Plus the graphs configs and data tables are very intuitive as compared to something like the dashhawk setup. Either way he decides to go, or anyone else who is looking for logging software, scanxl is a great way to go especially for the price
He can also go another route and get remotely tuned with HPT through another tuner, but now he has to pay a premium for the new tune on top of the cost of HPT. That will end up costing somewhere north or $900 when everything is said and done.. Yikes.. It's just not worth it for the average guy who wants to simply view some logs of his car and maybe mess with a few cool features

HPT just isn't worth the cash unless he decides to seriously tune with it himself and/or turn around and charge others for his own tunes.

Now I want a little more features like, Air temps, trims, knock, etc etc. Plus drag to practice my launch and dyno stuff just because it's gimmicky and cool lol. I don't know how accurate that is. Anyway, maybe if I bought it to begin with, but I think HPT is pretty much out. It's not financially worth it I'd say.
are you using your own custom config or have you been using one of the preset ones? I'm just curious to check out some other configs people with cobalts are messing with. I've made a few of my own that I really like, but they are pretty specific to the LNF

My favorite part of Scanxl was the logging ability..... it logs just like HP tuners and can run as long as you like . Plus it has a virtual dashboard that is really good at keeping track of what you deem important.
I already had a tactrix cable so anyone who has already bought that stuff from trifecta ..... palmer's software is a no brainer . I found it on sale for 85 bucks for standard and 125 for pro on MP3car/com
For the money ScanXL is a great program ..... I've used it with a full feature trial ( sort of 8) ) But after a couple days it went away. It's way more sophisticated than any hand held and can really get into the nitty gritty of the cars computer if thats what you want. I was just saying that a dashawk or aeroF gauge shows enough for the average person.

So what does your config look like? Here is a screen shot of one of my basic config file graphs that I probably use the most out of any other ones I have

what exactly are you trying to log? Actual boost level or waste gaste duty cycle? Either way, yes you can.
If you look at the screen shot above I am recording 2 different boost PIDs; MAP pressure in Kpa (blue line in the top screen) and straight up boost level (green line in the middle screen). Both are essentially measuring the same thing, but I personally like to see Kpa as well as actual "boost" levels mainly because Kpa is a tad mod accurate especially when you're taking barametric pressures into account.
