Performance Autowerks K04+ Dyno'd
Hey guys,
I finished my tuning up with Vince from Trifecta and decided to see what I gained from it. Long story short I gained 37WHP and 20WTQ on a Trifecta Tune (Conservative). Before I was K04+ I was at 310WHP and 377WTQ on stock turbo and now I'm 347WHP and 397WTQ
It was about 60*F and I was 5500ft above sea level according to Google Earth. I am on 91 Octane winter blend.
Not too shabby. The only concern I'm having is my stock turbo dyno was on a Superflow and my new one is on a DynoJet. A part of me wants to see what I get on the Superflow dyno to see what my results will be.

I was gonna say that your numbers seemed a bit low but then I saw the vid said conservative tune so that makes sense. Also it would be best to go back to the same dyno you went to the first time, and test in similar weather conditions to get the most accurate comparison. Two dynos, even the same type of dyno, can give you completely different results based on weather conditions/location. The gains from such a simple upgrade are pretty good though. I'd be happy with it for the cost.

Yeah, I feel the same in a way. I mean I'm still over what i did with my superflow, but I don't know my gains exactly.
Superflow dynos are MUCH stingier than DynoJets. They even have a 'dynojet correction' factor built in that adds 10% to your numbers. If you went back to the superflow I would guess the difference would be less than 10 hp from the stock turbo to the K04+.
Not being rude or a buzz kill but I make more than that on stock turbo... If I put E85 in there you can see an even greater gain... In my opinion upgrading the factory turbo is about pointless. You spend about $1000 and get maybe 10hp at most. I wonder if it has to do with your tune? You said it is conservative, but how conservative? Id like to see this car Hptuned.

I keep seeing people say these types of things. Anyone have any direct comparisons of same car two different dynos and it being drastically different? I'm talking about more than 10hp. 10hp difference can be had from just weather.
I think his dyno numbers are impressive giving the octane and conservativeness of the tune no matter the dyno situation.
There is a 1.214 correction factor on the dyno sheet, and 91 octane should never knock at that altitude. The uncorrected peak hp number would only be about 286whp. I'm not trying to take anything away from the OP. I know what happens to hp at that altitude, but I am saying that you can't make that type of comparison. It's like putting 1500 lbs of extra weight in your car and running the 1/4 and then using a calculator to compare how you would run against someone else at stock weight.
