Powersteering pop up on dash

The other day I started my car up and I found that my steeringwheel was really difficult to turn~?! Then I saw the powersteering showed up on the info screen on the dash. I turned the car off after warm up and started it back up and it went away.

Is this a serious issue down the road or just a stutter? Is my powersteering on its way out? Its electric power steering am I correct?

There's a recall for the power steering unit. Take it to a dealership, they'll replace it for free.

thats funny cause I was just there for an oil change on Friday and they didnt notify me for any pending recalls lol. including the key recall. I havent done that one yet either. I was scared for a second they did something under the hood and didnt tell me about it during the oil change. I saw them trying to fish something out.

I thought the power steering recall was only 05 to 07 cars. I know I got it done on my LSJ, but never had anything on my LNF.

Well recalls don't expire so you should be able to get a new motor for the power steering

I just had the power steering and key recall done. The power steering recall (10023) pretty much covers all the Cobalts/Pursuits/G5s through to early 2009 build dates. My SS was built in 08, arrived as an early 09.

My dealership has been bugging me to get in for the power steering recall for months now but I've been working mad hours. 2010 sstc. I've never had symptoms but why not get it changed out for free.

We certainly understand your concern with your power steering. Unfortunately, we're not certified technicians and we're unable to provide technical assistance, but we'd like to look further into your concern. If our help is needed, feel free to send us a private message with your full contact information, VIN, current mileage, and dealership name. We look forward to hearing from you!

Haha thanks Kristen. If I come across the issue again, I will bring it in and check to see if my cars on the recall list for it. I will probably get the ignition switch recall taken care as well since I didnt do that yet either.

Yeah, not really helpful since they cant diagnose anything from the internet. Just trying to trick us into bringing in our cars so they can make a fast sale by offering a trade in. Ive seen this scam in play before

So I just bought another '09 SS/TC and it only has 24k miles on it, bought it from a member here and my power steering is doing the same thing! I am trying to figure it out now.

Mine failed completely while I was driving. I don't know what the big deal is. It's not like it made the car impossible to drive. He'll, I drove it with nothing for three days.

Well, saw this and felt bad since i'm the previous owner of JP's car.

Found this: 2005-2010 Cobalt Power Steering Recall

According to that site, they did issue a recall. If I were either of you, I'd take it to a dealer whenever possible and see about having them fix the issue free of charge.
