Puttin her away for the winter
I wrote it assuming people were smart enough to put the jack stands out near the wheels on the rear beam. I've never had an issue with doing it that way but I suppose it couldn't hurt to take some of the weight off of it. You can never take too many precautions.
I drove mine through the last winter. With the traction control and ESC its not too bad. The things you have to worry about is when those big storms come. Thats when you stay the hell inside. I was driving on my way to college past 6 wrecks and had to get on the brakes because an SUV pulled out in front of me and ESC/ABS took over. This was on the stock continentals btw. The tires that they tell you when you buy them "DO NOT DRIVE ON ICE OR SNOW". I just didn't like the whole using the bumper as a snow plow and the effects of road salt on metal.

If Paintballerr wants to preserve his car by not driving it in the harsh winter let him. It'll save a lot of wear and tear.
I'm storing mine too, but it won't be in a heated garage. The main thing is getting it out of the elements/road salt. Other then that google and reaserch, the information is out there.
Sorry I couldn't help more i've been putting it off in my head because i want to drive my new car as long as possible (till it gets below 0 most likely) Best of luck to ya.

I don't understand why people say it's just a cobalt, so drive it. I paid a damn good dollar for my car and I work hard to pay for it. I'm gonna ruin it it buy driving it in the winter.... Especially our Canadian winters.
because cement allows condensation to rise up into the rubber. You put the tires on something that lifts them off the cement. why would you ever want to have your car on jack stands with the suspension hanging?! cars were meant to be sitting with weight on the suspension. Go look at any high end car collectors collection. they are all on the floor.
I looked into them so I could access the back corner of my garage easier...kind of expensive :/ I have 4 wood squares I put under each tire. Inflate tires to 40lbs, chuck the wheels, no ebrake, pull battery and put on charger, do a oil change, put dryer sheets all over and this year I'll get thick packing blankets from northern tool or harbor freight to put on top of the car so my roommates dont ding the door. stored it last winter with no issue

Northvibe has the right idea on storing the car. These other suggestions like compress the suspension by jackstands at certain points in the car had me laughing.
Some people told him to keep the tires off the ground. I simply suggested that if he's gonna take the tires off the ground then he needs to compress the suspension or else it'll cost him money on new suspension in the spring.
