Question about my mods

Got a question about my mods on my ss/tc. i got 3 inch mpx catback exhaust with mpx down pipe, injen intake, injen upper charge piping. Question is is this hurting my car without a tune. i know i need a tune to get the full power but is this hurting my car now until i get a tune........Thanks

As most will say YES!! The intake is most like;y throwing off your fuel trims. Altho the k&n doesnt do it as bad as others it still is throwing them off. At this point you are hurting the car more than helping. Plus even tho your butt dyno might feel faster, the computer is actually limiting itself to the factory 260/260. So yes get it tuned asap!! I hope this helps

What happens with the SS/TC is the computer has a "learn-down" feature so it will consistantly make the 260/260 it's designed for. After a while of driving with mods, the car relearns and adjusts to make the stock power - Until you tune that is.

Is the downpipe you have catted or catless?

The intake is going to skew your fuel trims. Sometimes that can cause issues and possibly throw codes. It could go as far as throwing the car in limp mode if the fuel trims get bad enough.

Yes, a custom tune is the best way to get the most power from your mods but it also will get it running perfect. The LNF is very picky when it comes to the MAF, the fueling and the fuel trims in general. If you're worried about warranty, put the intake back to stock and get the GMS1. Otherwise, tune it up

Are you hurting the car? Probably not. It would throw a code long before it did any damage really. as to what was said earlier about the learn down... think of it like this, yes your car will only allow you to make a 'calculated' 260lbs/trq. but the faster you get to that figure and the longer you stay there through the RPMs has you feeling like you have more power the whole way. The reason why these cars pick up so much power with a tune is because they are held back alot from the factory. GM wasn't about to release a car that was as fast as a Vette out of the box for 20k guys. They wanted a nice usable flat powerband and that's what they built.

I say, get a tune, you will love it. Otherwise you might see a slight drop in fuel economy because of unsteady fuel trims.

Just splurge a little more and get a tune. You don't have to buy HPTuners right off the bat.
