Quick Help Needed K&N SRI!
I am about to install my K&N SRI but when I looked at it something didn't seem quite right. On the main tube, there are two ends, one for the air filter and the other where you install a silicon hose that goes to the turbo inlet. Well, the side that you attach the silicon hose to that goes to the turbo is clearly not round. it's partially round, but then I can clearly see a flat area so it's clearly not truly round at the exit. I can probably just make sure the hose clamp is far enough up to where it won't be on on the deformed part, but I'm not sure if this is normal or not.
Has anyone else seen this? Have you guys noticed on yours that the end that you put the silicon hose on is not truly round? Please let me know soon, I'm not sure whether I should install or send back.

Did you buy it used? If so, the previous owner may have tightened the clamp around the pipe too hard and crushed it. I accidentally put a little flat spot on the same side of the intake tube by tightening the clamp too hard and not paying attention. A few body work tools and 5 minutes had my intake back perfectly round again lol. But like I said, I had only a little flat spot, we're talking maybe a 1/2 inch at most. If you bought the intake brand new, it shouldn't have any flat spots at all.
Yeah I bought it brand new, and when I slip on the hose and look down the pipe you can clearly see the gap there. The flat goes away so if I tighten the hose clamp further back it may work, but if this is really wrong I might just return it.
I might just try that. I reallllllly want to install it and don't want to send it back if at all possible. It just pisses me off that I got it in this way. I would think K&N would inspect it better than that.
I bent it into shape and I just got done installing it. I LOVE the sound of it. Honestly, I couldn't really tell much of a difference in throttle response. That could just be from the car not being fully adjusted to it though.
See what UPS did to my ZZP IC:
FYI
I bought my K&N SRI new from Amazon and the manufacture date on the K&N box was 11 MAR 2013... The turbo portion of the aluminum tube was flattened just like in the original post. Either this is a design of the tube, or it is shipping damage but I couldn't see any signs of impact inside the box.

I got one of the first K&N intakes and it was bent as well. I just bent it back into a round shape using a hard plastic conical connector for a shop vac. Destroyed the shop vac connector but I didnt really need it. A hammer, something round that you can insert into the intake and some common sense should fix it.
Common sense is import so you dont hammer directly onto the intake and destroy it lol.
