do the outsides look worn at all?

Unhappy 19000 miles

Highway miles and only rear insides are scored. Off next week and going to Dealer with photos of both sides of front and rear roters and ask to explain BEFORE THE LOOK AT IT. Been around the block more than a few times and had my Ryder truck mechanic look at them, definatly a defect. Had front rotors already replaced on recall. I will push them to the limit. FYI next week.

they must have figured they had spare time to release the parts, didn't think people were gonna wear through them so fast
yea i think there has been issues with getting rear and front rotors too, at least that's what i thought. Hawk has pads out for us now and EBC has rotors front/rear so that should be enough to fix anyone who doesn't have pads/rotors for their ss/tc cause of a factory defect.......i hope my rear calipers are not defective but if they are i sure as hell hope GM puts up a recall for it.

L/R-outside good, inside somewhat low but not grinding
R/R-outside a little low, inside "none" left to account for. rotors warped

Well in talking to the brake engineer today his response from program management was that they had not heard of the issue yet. So he is aware of it and said he will try to get someone out to the dealer I plan on taking my car into tomorrow. Seems like this is moving in the right direction.

well if the rotors are shot already too then run those babies down into the backing plate before you get some. they might have something out by then haha.

What I can say now to anyone having this problem is to take it into the dealer at the very least to get it documented. Make sure you have them note that the inners are worn much more than the outers and that is not a customer issue.

so if the right is worn and the left isnt you got a problem bitch those ***** out my friend. skip the service manager, go right to the general manager 8) works for me every time and of course im known as an ******* but everyone knows be my name and i get what i want. just show your facts that the one side is defiineately less and then say how are they different i just press the pedal they shouold be even. and reap the benifits! and if the inner is excdessive than outter then the caliper either isnt releasing all the way after braking or its not sliding, so tell them to lube all the moving parts of your caliper mounts and get them to replace the pads. also the rotor could be from caliper sticking and pulling it or pushhing it off center and warping it while its hot. that should get you those also.

Did they give you a service survey? Mark it all negative, write the situation (in neutral terms, anger will do nothing) that happened, send it in.

Ok, so I think I figured out the problem with my brakes. It wasn't quite what I was expecting. When I felt the what I thought were the pads in the rear they felt extremely low. However, that was just an assumption because I couldn't see them. Upon removing the wheels and checking the brakes I noticed a feature on the rear passenger caliper mounting brackets that is colliding with the rotor and is making a groove in the rotor. This would explain the grooves in the passenger rotor and the grinding noise I hear.

On the driver side the matching feature is not contacting the rotor. There is a small groove in the rotor but I don't see what exactly is causing it.

The pads on both sides actually are very equal in material left so I definitely was wrong about that. At least I did find a problem so I know that I'm not going crazy. Its very easy to see why the dealer missed it to. I don't think they removed the wheel and looked at it on a lift. To see the feature on the bracket the wheel needs to be removed and you need to be looking from the top.

I'd say that's definitely a caliper defect. Should be under warranty.

There ARE brake parts available if you can't take the noise anymore.

Copy and paste and follow the instructions

And like the other guy said, poke around.

has ayone checked to make sure these rotors actually fit the t/c? Because according to the specs of the EBC rotor its diameter is 10.6 in while the stock rotors are

Rotor diameter x thickness (in / mm):

front: 12.4 x 1.02 / 315 x 26 (vented)

rear: 11.5 x 0.79 / 292 x 20 (vented)

I just sent an inquiry to EBC. Don't know if they work weekends but will post whatever I find out. The pads and rotors shown on the EBC site are specified for the 2008 SS/TC. I hope they do have them. EBC is good stuff.
