rear spring issue

im in the process of trying to help my buddy install springs and we got the front but we cant get the rears....

the front of the car is still on jackstands but we dont have anymore jackstands so i used my stock jack to raise up the car from the edge on the side of the car...

i supported the rear axle with his stock jack and took out the shock bolt and slowly lowered the axle but the spring just returns to the normal position and wont lower enough to be able to pull out.

what am i doing wrong? do i have to use jackstands on the rear for this to work properly? seems like such a easy thing to do but were stuck...

any help appericated!

You said take out the top bottom part out but I'm assuming that means the bottom comes out first?

well you can do it either way but it seems easier to take the bottom part of the spring out first and then the top and try it first on the rh passenger side the lh drivers side is a biatch cause the mufflers in the way

Alright i gotcha, I read something saying you have to have both sides jacked up when doing the install cause of our dependent suspension, is this true?

Yes having both sides off the ground makes it 1000x easier realisticly with both rear wheels off spring swap will take ten mins for both sides gl
