Normally a turbo doesn't glow red when simply cruising around, it could be a clogged cat or some fueling problem.

It should NOT glow red unless you were beating on it HARD, somethings not right. My old turbo Trans Am only glowed red when I ran the **** out of it with 100 octain race fuel and no timiing plled oout on the hghway at speeds around 150mph for miles and miles with just a dump pipe and no exhaust at all.

As for how they spool that jet turbo do you see the leaf blower in the begining? Thats all in needs to start it and then the combustion process of the flames out the back draw the incoming air in and it spools itself.

there could be alot of things wrong. A bearing problem could be causing more friction than it should, an oil delivery issue, etc. Take it to the stealership and have em check it out for peace of mind. even if they cant recreate the problem, there will be a record of you coming in and complaining about that so if the turbo fails in the near future you will be all set. good luck.

the difference between you and me is this- You just throw out bs information and act like you know what you are talking about, then act like a two year old when people call you out on it.

I call people out on BS information, then leave them alone. I saw that you were in this thread and didn't say anything, then when I try to help someone out by giving them an idea of what may be going on, you act like a 2 year old.

i could be far, far meaner to you than I am, trust me. There are quite a few absolutely ignorant things you have said that i could toss into my sig. If you'd like me to do that and embarass you in every thread you post in by picking apart the ignorant bull that comes out of your mouth when you are trying to act like you are a pro engine builder then keep this childish crap up. If not, leave it alone and quit while you still have some dignity.

OP- your turbo should NOT be glowing red in stock form no matter what people say. take it to the dealership and don't take "that's normal" from some newbie as an answer. Make them look it over so there is a record of it.

He is right our turbos are both liquid and oil cooled. It should not glow red like that unless it was night time and you were staring at the exhaust side of the housing it could glow red if you were beating the crap out of it. Are you stock? If you are tuned and are maxing out the turbo this could happen. Please make sure you check your oil level too. Your turbo would make an audible squealing sound if you bearings are going bad. Does it sound noisy to you?

That's really bizarre that you got it glowing from just driving normally. Keep us posted on what happens.
