Replacing shift cable rod

When you remove the cup holders on our car it reveals 2 rods the one of the right for me is incredibly bent and i was wondering what i have to do to replace this rod. Its the rod the cable clamp connects to. Im at work right now can get pictures up on the 4th

Its part of the shifter cable. You have to replace the whole cable assembly itself which comes with both cables.

Put car in neutral, block wheels jack up . 4 jack stands or a hoist.

remove handbrake housing ( depress clip underneath the handle) and remove cupholder. remove console ( remove side panels at side of main console they pop out.

depress and release cable clamp locks and and unclip cables.

do the same (release cables ) at trans pivots.
undo 10mm head 6 mm x 1 mm nut on shift cable bracket. remove cables forward. replace new cables from front to back. install cables at front.
back inside, release shift lever alignment block by lifting up the reverse lock out and squeezing with needle nose pliers the tabs on the block clips to permit the shift block to drop (its spring loaded)

insert cable ends.
got to front verify in neutral
lock cable clamps
lift alingment block and let it lock in place
replace console
pita job u r dun.

BTW u bent the cables? Driver mod, shift lessons required. The cables are stainless steel. omg.

I have no idea how it bent one day i went to go and do something and it was bent to who knows what im gonna try and bend them back tomorrow when i replace my cable clamp with a TWM one

they dont bend back. good luck.

Well looks like i may be screwed since i doubt ill get this fixed under warranty im not even sure how it bent...i just figured since they bent they should be able to bend back but guess well find out tomorrow

Ill have the new cables today...Hopefully this goes smooth...If im just replacing the shifter cable one on the right do i need to release the shifter lever allignment block?

you cant replace just one they are attached by a mounting tab and a rubber boot tol seal where it goes through the floor. good lucke it is a pita try to keep the hulk shifts to a minimum

^^^ You should also look into a TWM cable clamp, it worked wonders for me
