Requesting submissions of codes stamped on Oil-Filter housings
Hey all,
I've been working on collecting as many stampings as possible from oil-filter housings on all Ecotec engines in order to enable engine identification. I've made some very good progress, but I need more data. I have found zero LNFs, LSJs, or LK9s(B207) one LHU, one LE8, one LE9, three LAP's, and not very many L61s yet.
In exchange, I can continue posting my findings on all the data I do receive.
Here is a summary of my findings so far:
Here is a list of the three letter codes I've found so far and there correlating engine. If there is a code, there is no overlap, so those letters can tell you which engine you have. The "blank" entries are meant to be literal, as-in I have found many engines with absolutely no code stamped.
L61: REE, RFC, RPC, TYD, UZJ, (blank)
LAP: (blank)
LE8: (blank)
LE5: AAB, AAM, ACS, AWM, TAK, TAL, TBB, TCC, TTC, (blank)
LE9: (blank)
LAF: AHN, DM6, TPP
LEA: A61, AKL, AKR, B1W, B9B, DM6
LHU: AFY
Below is a publicly viewable link to my spreadsheet of all data collected so far, including make, model, VIN, displacement, and casting method. Feel free to make a copy for yourself and analyze the data yourself to try and find any correlations.

I know I posted this to the LNF section but codes from any and all engines are welcome.
Thank you for the help!

Here is a summary of my findings so far:
- all codes start with 10
- The relevant information is the three letters following the 10, letter at the start of the next group which indicates the factory, and the number(or two) following said letter, which indicates build year
- for example on the code given by OP, 10TCC S710151110 the S indicates which factory, the 7 after the S indicates build year of 2007
- in 2012 they changed it to the TWO numbers following that letter
- There seems to be no correlation between the number string in the second half of the code and the vehicles VIN, contrary to popular belief
- Every 07+ L61 I've found has no stamp code, same goes for half of the pre-'07 L61's, and every single LAP, LE8, LE9, and 2011+ LE5 (SO FAR)
- I have not yet compiled the factories and their letter codes, or their relevance
- There is ALLEGEDLY a photo out there of a foam-cast LHU on the HPTuners forum, but the photobucket link is dead and all my attempts to revive it have failed. I even DM'd the guy months ago but got no answer.
