Royal Purple

So i'm going to be due for an oil change soon, and i was wondering if using Royal Purple was acutally worth it... i mean of course i was going synthetic etc etc so i've just become curious(after seeing a few RP commercials) if it was good to use..

^^^^ this..

anyone who spends a small fortune on magical oil has money to burn..

most cars will run fine with synthetic and regular oil changes. any benefits from a so called super oil are negligable for most owners and not worth the money IMO.

I use Amsoil Signature 0w30 and have used Amsoil since 15k and now at 54k with no issues. Car seems to run better and cleaner but I also have been using premium about the same amount of time.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! ask the motor I had to replace after I used that ****. engine started ticking a week after. when I checked it out finally, my cam lobe had worn down to almost nothing and sent that metal through the engine causing cylinder wall scratching. had to get new motor. did some research after, found out im not the only one whos cams started ticking after putting in that ****. but was unlucky enough to leave that **** oil in long enough to cause enough damage to have to replace motor. DO NOT USE IT!!

i'd say your motor was probably defective to begin with.

exsoccer's link explains it well.

most people shouldn't waste their money on racing oil because most cars don't need it.

racing cars yes... DD's with a bit of extra power.. probably not.

I think this topic has been beat to death longer than "what turbo is best"

Just stick to Mobil 1.

my motor was fine, I had absolutely no issues with it till I put royal purple in. and I googles other peoples expiriences with it. and I found a lot of storys exactly like mine, with royal purple. we cant all have bad engines. I speak from experience and the experience of others, my opinion is not based on some article about oil I read. if it was just me that it happened to id probably agree, but its not. so im just trying to save a guys motor. if he don't believe me, use it, let us know how that goes.

I don't mind spending a bit extra and I put royal purple in my car. Hasn't given me any problems and I change it after 8000 miles.

If you do go ahead with buying it, just get a case off of ebay. It's the cheapest and it's still the same stuff. With the oil filter (bought a more expensive K&N one) it cost about $43 for the oil change.

Please read through this link and rethink what you're saying man. This isn't a matter of someones "oppinion", this is a matter of fact. This also has nothing to do with oil quality, but the actual composition of the oil and what it's designed to do.

Here it is again just in case it was overlooked..

not sure what ur trying to prove here i may be a little confused. Im just stating that rp makes more than 1 kind of oil. if ur car isnt a RACECAR dont use RACECAR oil. they make a street oil. a motor that is "fine" does not magically blow up do to a certain brand of oil.

im not rooting for royal purple as i dont even use their products im just stating that an engine doesnt just blow up in a week if it has oil that is supposed to be in the car.

I had a buddy run Royal Purple in his SRT4 with a turbo swap. within 2 weeks he blew his turbo. The techs at the Race shop here said it was due to the royal purple. Switched back to Mobile 1 and hes had no problems since

Somebody give this man a BEER, right on dude.

All you ROYAL PURPLE HATERS, tell me this....How many of you have ever had a UOA done to the oil to be so hell bent against it ? I'm going to go out on a limb here and say NONE !!
I use it in a turbo LE5 and magically my engine has not just blown up.
I have had UOA's done to RP and they come out very fine compared to some M1 UOA's on the same type of engine.
